Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Laptop Recommendations?

    Hi guys,

I am looking for a laptop mainly used for college stuff, programming and gaming. My budget is 1100 euros, so can somebody recommend me a good laptop. I am looking for something that can play most mainstream games (it does not have to be on ultra) like LOL, and maybe something that can play the upcoming GTA V on low or med settings. I have been looking everywhere and I can't seem to decide. Also, don't tell me to buy a desktop because I need portability. I have seen one on currys, but I am not sure if it is okay: its ASUS n550jk

Do you think this is good? You can also recommend me a build on pc specialist that goes with the budget.

    Thanks very much.

Is this what you're looking at: http://www.pcworld.co.uk/gbuk/laptops-netbooks/laptops/laptops/asus-n550jk-15-6-laptop-silver-10010938-pdt.html#cat-0
Just two main comments on the spec. The screen resolution is low & for that money I'd want to have a better hard drive.

For a 1100 budget, anything you buy will be able to play LoL. GTA V on the other hand has a really high minimum spec - to the point that I'd question if it should be played on a laptop.

    Yeah, that's it.

Would you recommend building a laptop from pc specialist with an SSD or a much faster HDD?

Nevermind GTA V then, but do you think it can run some games like BF4, AC, DOTA 2 most steam games? Not on ultra but maybe low or med settings.

For an extra €100 the Acer Aspire V15 Nitro should suit your needs and more. I recently bought one (still in the box it's that new). It has a better CPU and GPU, uses low energy RAM, comes with an additional 128GB SSD and has a Full HD screen. Also weighs 400g less than the ASUS so is more portable. I spent a month researching laptops in your price range with similar needs and in the end decided on the Acer. Down the road you can also install 16GB RAM (I plan to shortly).

I would not recommend PC Specialist. I've never heard any good reviews about them but a lot of bad because it's mix and match sometimes with incompatible hardware.

I think I will go for this one. Is komplett a safe site and do they handle their products with care?

Yes, mine arrived without a scratch on the box.
