not really the storm may have weakened but it doesnt seem to be moving very fast. somewhere between 0 to 5 mph and its just pounding florida now

I would expect that this could be more of a flooding event than a wind event

Well Ivan did some serious flattening already in Grenada and is tracking towards Cuba and Florida... boy they are getting the works.

/ meanwhile the remanents of Francis is knocking on our shores on sunday with heavy rain and gales.
Some of us may get some tropical thundery downpours though before then in the next 36-48 hours as some serious clouds and unstable air down off the Brest peninsula has our name on it, I gather.

You know it's wierd, despite what has been perceived to be a wet summer, the dykes in my part of the south east are bone dry, usually an obvious indication of a soil moisture defecit and Drought.

I was in Orlando for Frances and I must say the wind and rain was unbelievable. With the airports closing in Orlando we eventually had to fly out from Miami. When we travelled down on bus to Miami we stopped off at Ft Pierce which was hit the worst, buildings had roofs taken off, floods were present and police had to guard each end of petrol stations.
