Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I have a feeling this is gonna be a bigger mish mash of songs than the 80s one.

    Match 1:
Guns 'n' Roses - November Rain. I don't know the other song off the top of my head.

Shania Twain - That Don't Impress Me Much. Again, off the top of my head, I don't know the other song.

Crowed House - Weather With You. Again, same issue!

Sting - If I ever etc. Not too mad about the other song.

    Q/Match 1
Guns N' Roses - November Rain
    Has to be, doesn't it?

    Q/Match 2
    Alanis Morissette - Uninvited
Don't love either song, but more love for Alanis

    Q/Match 3
Crowded House - Weather With You
I love The Bluetones but If isn't their best, and Weather With You is a classic

    Q/Match 4
The Divine Comedy - National Express
Because it's hard to get by, when your arşe is the size, of a small country

    Is that Courtney Love?

Yes. Hole is her band, and they have some great songs.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,381 ✭✭✭✭Electric Nitwit

When I play one of these my speaker then plays more random 90s and I'm remembering more and more I didn't nominate, it's driving me crazy!

    Is that Courtney Love?

Hole is her band, but I'm not really familiar with their stuff. I would know her husband Kurt Cobain's band Nirvana from that decade much better.

Everything But The Girl - Missing (this was a really close call for me though - love both of these a lot)... changing to Embrace - Come Back To What You Know.

    Oasis - Wonderwall

Sheryl Crow - Every Day Is a Winding Road

Manic Street Preachers - La Tristesse Durera

Vanilla Ice - Ice Ice Baby

I'm aware of the irony of me rolling my eyes at Shania Twain and then voting for Vanilla Ice, i just wasn't a manics fan, I was more a Stereophonics girl I'd never heard the manics song I gave it a listen and I just thought is was average, at least you can have a laugh with Vanilla Ice!!

Everything But the Girl - Missing. Great song, but don't know the other one.

Oasis - Wonderwall. Catchy tune. Not mad about the other one.

Radiohead - Paranoid Android. Fantastic music. Not keen on the other.

Don't recall that Manic's song, although I would know most of their hits. I can't stand Ice Ice Baby, so will abstain.

Two votes for this round. There are better Manics songs than La Tristesse imo

Actually, want to change my vote for Match 5 to Embrace - Come Back To What You Know... Sorry Kolido for confusing things, but if its too late I understand. Both songs are worthy of moving on anyway.

    Q/Match 5
Everything But The Girl - Missing
Sorry Embrace, this is just more iconic

    Q/Match 6
    Oasis - Wonderwall
Obviously. Amazed it only got one nom

    Q/Match 7
    Radiohead - Paranoid Android
    Just incredible

    Q/Match 8
Manic Street Preachers - La Tristesse Durera
Wow, who nominated this? LOVE IT
Always get the impression this album isn't well loved by Manics fans but I think it's brilliant

I left out anything by oasis, Blur, Pulp etc thinking exactly that

I don’t think I went for any of the obvious ones thinking someone else would nominate them.

    Such an eclectic mix already.

    Massive Attack, Unfinished Symphony

    Sound Garden, Black hole sun.

    Oasis, Wonderwall

Sheryl Crowe, If it makes you happy.

Overall the album is patchy imo, but that is by far my favourite single of theirs. I also reckoned some of their better known songs that probably have a better chance like Design for Life might get nominated by someone else.

Everything but the Girl (my nomination!)
Oasis ( did this only get one nomination? Lol)
Sheryl Crow (great karaoke song :D)
Manic Street Preachers (never heard this before but better than cringe cringe baby)

    Some great songs there

If Wonderwall only got one nomination I can see some very popular songs not in this.

Reason- Chose the least depressing song in each bout with the exception of Wonderwall which is iconic in its own right

I really wanted to nominate a couple of Manics tunes myself but just didnt have the space :(

I was putting in Motorcycle Emptiness instead of Wonderwall but decided against it and bloody glad I did seeing as no one else nommed it

I think everyone must have taken the same line in nominating. It would have been amazing if Wonderwall had not got any votes!
