Hey guys just yesterday I set up here for PMR and have it on the call channel at 446.093.75 and I've yet to hear anyone, location here is kilkenny laois border.

There's a Facebook PMR group and there's stations in Dublin etc but wonder is there many PMR ops in the leinster counties??.

The have a Sunday night net at 7 or 7.30 so might see can I hear it.

Anyone else experimenting with PMR on 446mhz ??

Here is a lsit of the frequencies and the stations.
It depends what type of radio you are using hand-held or one with and external antenna.
An external antenna will improve what you can hear. Hand-held radio what you can see.
Moving up and down the channells there is activity on different channells.
People such as crane operators, Road traffic operators use them for letting the cars through when they are working on the roads.
At present I am in Dublin and I can pick up live stations.
If you are using a hand-held radio take it with you and go for a walk and go up and down the channells.
It is also a good idea to use an ear piece when listening.
Have a look at an app called zello.
    Network radios.
Zello is an app you can get for your mobile or you can buy a network radio it is like a radio with a push to talk button.
All you need is wify and join some talk groups you can talk listen to people all over the world. At present this type of communication is very lively and many ham operators are using them.

    All the best

    William

Sunday night nets at 7:30 are getting quite busy around Dublin and Kildare, with some guys going to high ground and working across several counties. Height, and a clear unobstructed view makes a HUGE difference. Theres nightly activity in Dublin, mostly on Ch8.
Occasionally the NorthWest England net at 8:30 pops up on the coast when conditions are good.
