Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Townland in Tipperary or Limerick - "cool na croke ereh"

Apologies in advance for the terrible spelling, but I realised as I went to spell it out that I had no idea how to do it . . .

I'm trying to establish the correct spelling of a townland for one of my ancestors. The understanding is that he was from a townland with a name pronounced something like this - "cool na croke ereh". Obviously the 'k' wouldn't have been in there at that time, but it sounds the same as Croke as in Croke Park.

What I'm hoping for here, is that someone recognises the townland from the Limerick or Tipperary area. Given that he appears to have been living in Midleton when he was 17, it's possible it could be anywhere in that region, but Liimerick & Tipperary are the ones most often mentioned in his regard.

Once I have the townland name correct I can focus a little better on the relevant records.

So, how about it - Coolnacroceire, Coolnacroighire, Coolnacroacaire - anyone ?

    Thanks,

    z
