November 2011 Boards forecast contest

Here are the questions for the November contest:

1. Mean IMT (was 7.3 C for 1981-2010, a steady rise from 1961-90 at 6.6 and 1971-2000 at 7.0, figures thanks to DE).

2. Highest temperature recorded in Ireland (met.ie monthly summary).

3. Lowest temperature recorded in Ireland (met.ie monthly summary).

4. Precip percentage of normal at eleven stations (met.ie m.s.)

5. Sunshine percentage of normal at six stations (met.ie m.s.)

6. Bonus ... predict the highest wind speed (gust) in knots.

Deadlines for entries as per usual custom, regular entry by end of (Tues) 1st, late entry by end of Wed 2nd, penalty applies to >60 and automatic 3-pt penalty on bonus, late-late entry to end of 3rd, penalty applies to >50 and automatic 5-pt penalty on bonus, except automatic zero if value already achieved and submitted as entry.

Note on October bonus question, first snowfall date ... the October monthly summary will be used as the official source for any possible October dates (at the moment, we know of two unconfirmed and probably bogus reports from earlier this month; also, there could be reports to come). Assuming there are no official reports, the bonus remains open for later scoring. A scoring summary will be posted with potential scores for future dates if necessary. This will give you a pretty good idea where your actual score will land.

Ballyhaise had another report of recent snow in this morning's 6 am synop, but with temperature and dewpoint both 3.5 °C. visibility reduced to 11 km and clear skies it was obviously erroneous.
