Just came across this site - http://1916rebellionmuseum.com I'm sure it's well known to all here.

I know we're broke as a nation, but I wanted to ask...

Why has this project not been taken over by the government & fast tracked so that it's in place for the 100th anniversary ?

They could even refurbish part of moore street leading up to it & it would draw in tourists.

This to me is a no brainer, Restore the buildings to what they were back in 1916 - as in "living museum on the ground floor of exactly what the shops were back then" & overhead to be a physical museum with multimedia etc.

You've answered your own question there - 'it's a no-brainer' and that's why there's nothing being done about it. Much better to have our great leaders make meaningful speeches outside the GPO, perhaps even get Michael D to write a poem about it but God forbid something permanent and worthwhile should come out of the commemorations.
