Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

"Relevant Experience"

    Hi guys,

When reading the requirements for doctorates and many other courses, most places will say that they want you to have at least one year of relevant experience.

Does this mean that they expect you to have worked full-time for an entire year in a relevant area despite not being qualified to do so? I need to work full-time to pay the bills and don't see how this would be expected.

Or would doing volunteer work once per week for a few years be considered enough?

    Many thanks!

Usually means working (part-time or full-time) in an area relevant to clinical work. Obviously not as a psychologist. Most common examples are securing a post as an assistant psychologist (hard to come by) or working in a disability organisation as a support worker. Others have done additional courses such as ABA and then do a year working in that area specifically. Given the lack of actual posts of late, it is becoming more common for people to do volunteer work as often as they can but yes, this might only amount to a day or two per fortnight.
