Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Confused on Crew Cab conversion

    Hi All, I'm hoping for some guidance from the knowledgable people on here. I've started having a look at either buying of converting a van to camper. I've come across a few ads where the seller has advertised a van as free or exempt from vrt if converted to a camper, and it seems to be if going from crew cab -> camper. Is this true ? I can't find any definitive info around it, just vague references. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

    As far as I know, commercial vehicle and campervan totally different classification.

    Did you ever get an answer on this or does anyone know the answer. I've looked at few crew cans and been told the same thing. That I won't have to pay any VRT when I convert to a campervan

    I don't know, but I imagine you would not be reclassifying it and it would remain a crewcab rather than a camper. That would have a whole rake of knock on consequences.

    I think it depends on how revenue originally classified it - I'm not sure how you check that though. I'd be sceptical without proof, as I would think it would be in the interests of business to not pay passenger vehicle VRT?

    If you convert a passenger vehicle you don't need to pay VRT.

    Some crew cabs used to be classed as commercial vehicles but now they are nearly all classed as passenger vehicles - hence the price being so high. You would need to check the log book of any van you're looking at to be clear.
