Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Zone 9 keeps telling me it's open which is the hall door. Would this mean the batter for sensor needs to be replace or that the contact needs to be replaced? Also how do I isolate that zone? I can't get the menu up to get to isolate the zone. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Thanks for reply. Not sure. I'll post a photo.

    OK.
Lets see what rights your code has.
Enter you cod and press arrow down untill you come to menu & press select.
Is there menu options to Inhibit & Isolate.?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 139 ✭✭TANGLEWOOD

Thank you so much. I've managed to isolate the zone. I have another question if you don't mind. I'm hoping it's the battery and I have a replacement but not sure how to open the sensor and I don't want to damage it. I attach a photo of that - maybe if you know you could point me in the right direction.

Just remove the phillips screw at the top centre. The lid will then open from the top first.

Thank you. How stupid am I. Maybe if I'd got a step ladder I might have noticed but then again maybe not. Great to get it sorted especially at this time of year. Thanks again for your help. Much appreciated.

Can anyone recommend an alarm service engineer that would service and repair an working Europlex alarm system . have a 3A Smart PSK and a Signet 100.

  • Moderators, Home & Garden Moderators, Technology & Internet Moderators Posts: 24,789 Mod ✭✭✭✭KoolKid

Most good installers would be familiar with these systems.
You could also check the PSA register of installers here

    Hi KoolKid

Back again. Same issue. Replaced battery back in May and last weekend alarm with off - front door. Was working fine again until this evening when the alarm failed to set - front door again. Just wondering do I need to replace the contact on the front door or maybe I just got a faulty battery? Also when I open the hall door should the red light flash every time?

If I need to replace contact - is it straightforward?

    Thank you.

The panel should normally show low battery. I would say replace the contact at this stage.
Europlex wireless contacts are no longer available. What version of firmware is on the panel?
    Engineer>Utilities>Software

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 139 ✭✭TANGLEWOOD

    Thank you for the reply.

When I enter code and go to menus the only options I get are inhibit, isolate, test, event log, chime, user, change code and setup sms. Unfortunately Can't see an option for engineer, utilities, software.

    Thanks.

  • Moderators, Home & Garden Moderators, Technology & Internet Moderators Posts: 24,789 Mod ✭✭✭✭KoolKid

Do you have a separate engineer code?
You will need engineer access to replace the contact. You also might have to upgrade the firmware to allow you to use Visonic devices.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 139 ✭✭TANGLEWOOD

Na. Don't have an engineers code. I guess I'm going to have to call the guy who installed it. Ironically. The alarm is behaving itself again but it looks like I better get the contact changed!!!! Thanks for all your help. Much appreciated.

The Europlex SigNET wireless portfolio is now obsolete.
If the panel is a SigNET 100 you can upgrade the firmware to 1.2b to allow you to use Visonic wireless devices.
If the panel is a SigNET 200 or 300 you can change the license key to allow you to use Visonic wireless devices.

Could you tell me how to upgrade it please.Thank you.

Hi you need a copy of the licence free firmware ver 1.2b.
Unfortunately we are no longer allowed help you here with firmware.
Vanderbilt or any licenced installer would be able to help you with that.

    Hi KoolKid.
Back again looking for some help please. Getting modem 1 L fault on my panel which I would like to clear please. Any help much appreciated. Thanks.

    My panel is

Is this a GSM modem or a PSTN Modem.
If its GSM try disable & re enable to initialize the SIM card. Failing that try a full power cycle of the panel.
When the fault if resolved you will be offered the option to Clear Alert when you enter your code.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 139 ✭✭TANGLEWOOD

    Hi

Thank you for reply. Not sure what router I have. Don't use sim. I have an Eir F2000. I also don't know how to do a full power cycle of the panel.

  • Moderators, Home & Garden Moderators, Technology & Internet Moderators Posts: 24,789 Mod ✭✭✭✭KoolKid

Do you have monitoring on the system?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 139 ✭✭TANGLEWOOD

    Hi,

    I did but not anymore.

  • Moderators, Home & Garden Moderators, Technology & Internet Moderators Posts: 24,789 Mod ✭✭✭✭KoolKid

If so you could then disable the modem from the engineer menu.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 139 ✭✭TANGLEWOOD

    Hi KoolKid

Sorry for all the questions. When I go into Menus I have the following options

    Inhibit
    Isolate
    Test
    Event Log
    Chime
    Users
    Change Mode
    Setup SMS

I've tried to either inhibit or isolate modem. I've inhibited the modem and it shows the modem is inhibited but once the alarm is set and then unset the fault comes back. I can't find any Engineer menu unfortunately.

  • Moderators, Home & Garden Moderators, Technology & Internet Moderators Posts: 24,789 Mod ✭✭✭✭KoolKid

    Hi
If you isolate it will stay off. If you had the engineer code you could disable it fully.

    Hi,

Another Europlex alarm question. We had a power cut recently due to bad weather and since then the alarm is flashing a green light and an orange light and displaying the message MAINS FAULT. Can force the alarm to set but would like to fix this issue.

Contacted the company who installed it 10 years ago but they are gone out of business. Power fine everywhere else in house and all circuit breakers are on in fuse box.

Any advice or a name to get in touch with in the West?

    Many thanks,

    Sleepcar

    What Europlex Panel is it?
If its the SigNET it should offer you the option to clear the alert after you enter your code.
Have you confirmed the panel is getting mains power?

    Thanks KoolKid,

It’s the same panel TANGLEWOOD had a picture of on page 2 of this thread. There is no option to clear the alert so perhaps it is not getting mains power. Turning the circuit breaker on and off for the alarm seems to make no difference so perhaps I need an electrician rather than an alarm person.

How long will the alarm function on back up battery supply?

Could last 2-3 days. First this I'd be checking is power in and out of the power supply.

    Thanks,

It’s been a week at this stage, does that mean I’m skating on thin ice with the battery? Should I get an alarm specialist or an electrician to check that for me?

Not very hands-on when it comes to things like this so a bit lost as to how to proceed.

Disconnect the battery and see if the panel remains powered?
It's possible your code does not have permissions to clear alerts.
After you disconnect the battery you should be left with a tamper fault. Close the panel again and see will that alert clear.

Thanks. I’m away from home for the next few days but will try this when I get back. Neighbour has key and has been told alarm could act up. Will update when I get this tried.

Thanks KoolKid, but that last advice went beyond my expertise! Tried and realised it was beyond me.

Eventually found someone who managed to get an engineers code and clear fault. Fingers crossed that’s it sorted.

Found it very difficult to get anyone at all and even to get companies to ring me back was difficult.

Thanks for the advice here though!

Back again. New error and alarm keeps going off repeatedly. Any ideas what to do with “Zone 10: Attic Smoke” error message?

I am assuming that there is an error with the smoke detector in the attic? Do they need batteries? I have cleared the error message but alarm goes off again shortly later, as in starts going off, even if the alarm isn’t set.

Again, if anyone could help me find someone in the west who could help I’d be very glad.

    Thanks,

    Sleepcar

Try cleaning out the device with a hoover or a hair dryer on cold.
After that it might be the unit itself needs replacing.

I believe this panel is obsolete but I am still using it.
My problem is the sms feature.
It was working years ago but recently installed a new sim card.
I can not get it to work.
In engineer mode I put in my own mobile phone number and the pin code I just make up. Is this correct or should I put in the alarm sim number.??
When I tried a test message it says Modem fault.
I have reset the panel and also the sim module.
Do I need to tell the panel what the sim number is and the pin code?? "
    Thanks for any help.

I have a modem failure problem.
I was using a standard size SIM card from years ago.
I bought two new pay as you go sim cards using the adaptors.
Both of them show modem failure.
When I put back the original full size SIM card I get the .... status showing Ready.
However this old SIM has no phone number so is no use.
    Am I missing something????

Vodafone have a TRI sim which works with older alarms.
By the sounds of it it is not a 2g sim you are using

Hi all. Sorry to resurrect a zombie thread but I’m in a spot of bother. Long story short bought this house a few years ago, never got the alarm code, kept meaning to. It’s the same Europlex panel that the OP posted. It’s had a “battery low” message on screen for as long as I can remember. Today I was cleaning and when I ran a cloth over the keys I accidentally set off the alarm. In desperation I put in a few codes hoping they might be right but obviously not. Got the original code from neighbours then but by this stage the alarm had stopped. There’s a quieter alert going now though and when I put in the code it says I need an engineer code. Where on earth might I get that on a Saturday?!

    Any help greatly appreciated!

Is there any indication on the alarm system or perhaps the external sounder unit with the name of the installation company that fitted that system?

There should be someone on call in the company and they should be able to help you out.

I am having a problem with my Europlex Signet 100 alarm system. Would anyone be able to send me a copy of the engineer's manual for it please?

Thanks very much for the reply. I was getting an alert "RF jamming" I have no wireless sensors on the system. I managed to find and isolate "RF jamming" under "system"

If you have no RF devices try removing the RF receiver plugged onto the panel and power cycle the panel.
