Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

So if ye had around €900 to spend on an electric guitar what would ye get?
Would you go for a second hand model or brand new?

Buy a PRS Santana SE, really great guitars, also the PRS Soapbar SE is meant to be a great guitar.

You could be really cool and buy a Jagstang and then spend the change on grunge clothes.

What sort of music do you play?

I'm not asking for advice on what to buy (yet)
I'm just throwing out the question of if you had around €900 to spend what guitar would you most like to posess/play?

sub question, What do you think is an acceptable amount to pay for a guitar?
(i just said €900, cos to me, thats quite a bit.)

at the moment i have enough to get this , but to be honest i think its a waste unless you're a pro or something, i think any guitarist who spends this much on a guitar thats only gonna be played in dorans is a dumbass,, so i'm gettin me a car instead..

get yourself this us strat for 1000

I'd put it towards a second acoustic, so I can have a standard and open tuned guitar ready on stage at all times.

Failing that, I'd go for a second hand electric. Hunt for a PRS like dahboys did...

Woah, thats one pricey guitar (but its so gorgeous....weep). But yeah unless you're a professional musician that kinda money is crazy. I dont gig myself, i'm not even in a band, so spending over €1500 would be a bit excessive for me i reckon.

I'd go for the 62 Jazz fretless Japanese reissue from Ishibashi and have money to spare ;)

Blow it all at the track :p

Just go for an Eggle, PRS quality without the €500 worth of hype.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 800 ✭✭✭dabhoys

I can second that motion. I will tell you first hand having played both that the eggle action is better then the PRS on the one I played neway. Having said that theres nothing wrong with the PRS. I love it to bits and will be holding on to it for a very long time :)

I want to get a Eggle too. For that price you'd be stupid not to..

That did indeed include all :)

    Don't hate me I'm just a guitarist....

Apart from ebay where else can these eggle guitars be purchased?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 11,848 ✭✭✭✭Doctor J

You can get them new from a few shops in the UK and from Eggle themselves but then yer paying PRS prices. The great thing is they don't have that PRS aura despite the fact that they're just as good, so second hand, you pay much, much, much less for a hand made professional standard guitar. :)

    Everyone's a winner baby, that's the truth :p
