Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. Instead of counting ourselves lucky we're actually looking for nausea lol I'm quite cranky these days too. I was blaming the heat and lack of sleep. Never thought it might be the coffee I'm missing !
How far are you now Sallysue?

My first son was born at 28weeks due to placenta previa. He's 15 now and not a bother with him thank God. The preemies are the toughest I think :)

My cycles are a bit irregular, vary between 28-31 days.. I should be 5 weeks tomorrow which would take me into Jan, but I think I am a few days behind that which would take me into feb.. so I will be between both threads..

Preemies are the toughest, hopefully it wont be a journey we have to travel again. there is no known reason for me going so early... guess we will have to wait and see what happens this time...

I miss my coffee so much.... might pick up some decaf so at least I will still have the ritual of morning coffee!

Had a bit of an eventful day today. Has some spotting all last night and still there this morning. No pain or cramping or anything else of concern so just rang hospital as a precaution so they could document it. (I’ve had the same problem on previous pregnancies) told me to come in and get checked over.

Ended up getting a scan and got to see the little bean. All is perfectly fine thankfully, measuring bang on for my dates. Whilst not the best of circumstances, it was nice to get a scan.

Hope everyone else is keeping well!

  • Registered Users Posts: 14 Sarabi18

Glad to hear everything is okay there - great to get the scan
This is the hardest time I think when we are worried and I wish I could tell people!
Little bit of neausea starting here, not as bad as previous pregnancy so far ... we shall see!

Anyone else waking up way too early in the mornings? Why oh why! 😂

  • Registered Users Posts: 62 ✭✭Peppery

That’s great to get the scan for peace of mind. Have to say it’s good to hear too that things like spotting/cramping can happen without cause for alarm. Helps to keep the fears at bay! My symptoms are very much up and down. Some days I feel little and worry! The only constants are the tiredness (I have absolutely no energy) and food and smell aversions.

  • Registered Users Posts: 445 ✭✭teggers5

Glad to hear all is ok natc. Must have been so scary.
Sarabi I find I'm waking up several times during the night but when it's time to get up I'm exhausted.
My symptoms are still pretty much non existent apart from tiredness. Although I was lying on the couch the other night and the cat walked across my chest and it kinda hurt. Not sure if it was tender pregnancy boobs or just a heavy cat lol

  • Registered Users Posts: 85 ✭✭Baby19

Couple of symptoms kicking in here. Exhausted and sore, ahem, chest! Especially in the evening which is odd! Busy few weeks ahead in work so hopefully I'll make it through okay! Have my first scan in a couple of weeks. I'll be 6 weeks tomorrow and I've been warned that I'll feel a big surge in symptoms from this week on!

Hope everyone else is doing okay :)

  • Registered Users Posts: 103 ✭✭sallysue2

Natc, so glad to hear everything is ok, such a scary time..

baby19, im just a few days behind you, 6 weeks somewhere between thurs and sunday (cant wait for my scan so I can actually have a date!) but my symptoms have been fairly bad for the past week or so... this is going to be TMI but had awful trips to the loo, like I just had a vindaloo! nausea and my boobs are killing me! Had vindaloo style trips to the loo on my first but never nausea... And I am exhausted!! I slept for 15 hours on Sunday night!

  • Registered Users Posts: 85 ✭✭Baby19

Wow SallySue I'm the exact same- very regular trips to the bathroom but no nausea... yet... I'm kinda hoping I might get away with it!! Although I've been warned that this week will be a big week as there's a big surge of hormones etc.

Its awful isn't it baby19, I got such bad stomach cramps I thought I was miscarrying... until I had to run quickly to the loo, then the pains were gone.. thankfully.

Yea week 6 doesn't sound like fun, Im already more nauseated than I was the last time, dread to think of it getting worse, I have a strong stomach so I am never sick. I have to admit I was also one of those smug ladies the last time I was pregnant who never felt sick... coming back to bite me now!

  • Registered Users Posts: 85 ✭✭Baby19

Awh hopefully it'll pass soon!! As it's my first I don't know what to expect but overall I've been feeling pretty okay. Although I'm typing this with my eyes half closed as the tiredness is unreal!!

  • Registered Users Posts: 291 ✭✭natc

Oh ladies don’t be counting down the days to the nausea! I’m week 9 now and still feeling like sh!te. Had to take today off work as I knew it was going to be a bad one and I was right! Still throwing up....this is ongoing since late week 5 for me. Mainly just constant nausea. I actually feel better if I throw up!

    Hopefully ye will fair better!

  • Registered Users Posts: 85 ✭✭Baby19

Well it's been a pretty bad few hours here. I noticed incredibly light bleeding last night and unfortunately it got worse today, accompanied with very bad cramps. Went to a&e. After a 4 hour wait and 2 scans, internal and normal, I'm none the wiser :(
As my cycles are so irregular it's hard to know how far along I am. I'm pretty sure I conceived on the May bank holiday but nothing was showing on either scan, apart from a thickening of the womb.
I got bloods done and have to go back on Friday to get them done again. Won't know the result until next week.

Hope you are okay baby19 and get some answers soon

Thanks ladies :) Feeling much the same today. Got a call from the hospital there to say my level is 1000 so will get next bloods tomorrow. I won't hear the result until Monday so it'll be a long weekend :(

    Hi Ladies,
Just wanted to join you on this rollercoaster! I am due January 7th 2019 so 9+4 today. Starting to feel like its all more real now, it was a long road for us to get here so I have been very cautious up to this point.
We went through IVF so knew very early that we were pregnant. Ive been very sick right since the start and absolutely exhausted. Im lucky to not be working full time at the moment, I dont know how you ladies manage with the nausea and exhaustion!!
Anyway, looking forward to travelling this road together!

  • Registered Users Posts: 14 Sarabi18

    Welcome and congratulations!
Suffering pretty bad with the nausea here too....had to take time off work
.anyone found something to help nausea? Wristbands or something else?
Trying the usual small meals etc ( plain toast mainly!)

  • Registered Users Posts: 62 ✭✭Peppery

Fingers crossed for good news Baby19. It must be hard to work out dates with an irregular cycle...even seemingly regular cycles can be off a good but.

Might see you in the hospital Caveatemptor1, my due date is the day after yours!

Nausea has pretty much stopped for me but I still have gone off a lot of food I used to like. I’m only 9 weeks and the tiredness is unreal. I went to sleep at 9.30 last night and got up at 6.30 still tired!

  • Registered Users Posts: 291 ✭✭natc

I hope you get some good news Baby19. I can’t imagine how horrible the wait must be for you.

Caveatemptor1 we have the same due date, although I highly doubt I will make it to mine!

Still have very light bleeding every other day but not s whole lot that I can do about that. Still feeling sick most days. Thought I was over it the other morning but then it struck at 4pm and it’s the same every day since! Don’t think the heat is helping these days either.

Had a pregnancy risk assessment carried out in work this week so I’m getting a new fancy chair. Pregnancy has its perks!!

Had my bloods again yesterday and chanced ringing today to see if results were back but unfortunately they're not :( Dreading Monday as I'll be in work when I get the call. I'm a teacher so if it's not good news it's not like I can just leave or sit quietly at my desk.
Will keep you all updated anyway once I hear anything. Thanks for the support here!:)

Hi Baby19, dropping in from October thread to say sorry to read what you're going through. I'm a teacher too and it can be near impossible to get cover, but at times like this you've got to put yourself first. Could you tell your principal that you're expecting a phone call related to your health (even tell them it's to do with early pregnancy if you're comfortable to), and that you may need cover in your class for some time afterwards. Fingers crossed for you that it will be good news and even if so, it's so emotional that you will likely need to take a break. Really hope everything goes well x

  • Registered Users Posts: 85 ✭✭Baby19

Thanks a million for your message Cash_Q. Thankfully my principal knows and is very understanding. Might be lucky and get the call after school but either way I'll sort something re supervision.

Also, the bleeding has pretty much stopped for now thankfully as it had been ongoing since Wednesday.

    Thanks girls.

Unfortunately it's not good news :( To be honest, I knew in my heart it wasn't.
My levels dropped from 1062 to somewhere in the 200s.
    So disappointed :(

Best of luck to you all and hopefully it'll be my time soon x

Sorry to hear that baby19, take some sick leave. I know it's hard at this time of year with everything to wrap up, but that's not your problem, put yourself first. I hope you have lots of love and support around you x

  • Registered Users Posts: 85 ✭✭Baby19

Thanks so much for all your posts ladies. They mean a lot.
Cash_Q I thought about taking a bit of time but to be honest I think I'll see how I go and if needed I'll take some time.
I feel pretty numb to be honest. Not sure whether to tell people or to just keep going and act like nothing happened. It's a strange one.
I now know I definitely miscarried in work last Wednesday. It's tough knowing that's where it happened as obviously I'm there every day. It's just a mix of emotions to be honest.
    Sorry for the rambling post!

Sometimes it's best to just keep busy. There's no right or wrong in situations like this, just follow your heart and do whatever you need to day by day, hour by hour. Take care x

So sorry to hear that Baby19. Just to echo the other posters, do what you need to do - whether that’s take a break or keep busy.

The Irish Times had a piece today on maternity services where they mentioned a report on the services provided by hospitals for a consumer’s point of view. Interesting to see the variation in services across the country.

Hi guys hope it's okay if I jump on here.. just found out Saturday I am expecting baby number 3.. going by my dates I am due early Feb but I will have to have a section 2 weeks before hand so I think I will be late January!! I had previous babies in Kilkenny but had a bit of an ordeal the last time - hence being absolutely terrified this time around !!! I already am feeling nauseous and so tired.. and metal taste in my mouth along with sore boobs. Will be nice to follow you girls and know what's coming xx

Baby19 I’m a teacher too and this was me in april last year. Take the sick leave. Honestly. I needed it. And in hindsight, looking back I should have taken a little longer. Get your hair cut, your nails done or just watch some day time tv and allow yourself the time for yourself. It’s not easy. Hugs x

Hey Pinky, welcome to the group! Are you going back to Kilkenny again? I’m going there this time again. Had a bad experience immeadiately after the birth last time but midwives and consultant were amazing in the end. It’s the in between docs that fecked things up. I’m hoping that they will be more prepared this time as they will know what to expect with me.

To be honest I’m quite anxious already about the birth even though it’s so far away. I was never worried on the previous two. Think I may go speak to someone about it because I’m actually losing sleep over it now.

Oh my god I the exact same. I had 2 previous sections but had a bad bleed last time and had to get transfusions ..ray o Sullivan had to come in him self to stop the bleeding i am terrified!!! I know I'm not going to enjoy this pregnancy with the worry !! But yes I'm going back there as better the devil you know lol xx

Prob something similar to what I had teggers so hopefully is nothing too serious.

YEah pinky I hemmoradged last time too. I didn’t have a section though. Jnr Doc who stitched me left a pack in to absorb the bleeding and I ended up getting sepsis literally two hours after having my son. Was in and out of it then and went in to shock. Midwives wanted to start antibiotic straight away, jnr doc insisted waiting on lab results first before treating me. Midwife ended up calling Mr O’Sullivan and he couldn’t believe the carry on of the doc and the state I was in. He tore strips off the doc and couldn’t believe he left a pack in!! Started antibiotics and felt way better within a couple of hours. Ended up having a transfusion the next day once I was stronger. Ended up I couldn’t breastfeed or anything due to the infection.

So I’m just terrified with what could happen again. I know I’ll prob hemmoradge again as it’s happened both times before but I’m just terrified if it’s worse than last time the outcome may not be so good!

Are you going private or public?

Yeah doing okay. To be honest, I told most people in work as I just wasn't myself and I knew they could sense that so, the support has been great. I really was in two minds about saying anything but, glad I did now.

Right think I should probably sign off here. Hopefully I'll be joining this part of boards again in the future. As a long time lurker, it was nice to be able to post here. Even just for a little while.

Wishing you all happy and healthy pregnancies!! Thanks for all the support X

Just out from hospital. Pregnancy doesnt seem to have progressed since week 6 and I should be almost 10 weeks. Have to go back next Friday for another scan but midwife said nature will more than likely take it's course before then. Gutted.
