Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I recently did the DNA test with Ancestry.com. interesting results and it automatically connected me to 2nd - 6th cousins. those dna tests are incredible.

Don't forget to upload your raw DNA to gedmatch.com to match with people who took the test with other companies.
There is also an Irish DNA Registry group on Facebook as well as multiple 'county' DNA groups.

I have just received results from 23&me but I cannot see where to proceed to create a GEDCOM to enable information to be exported to Gedmatch site.

If people are interested in taking a course and learning how to trace your ancestry, my bi-annual one in Malahide is starting again soon.

I might have to rename this thread as I seem to be the only regular poster!

My beginner's Irish genealogy course is now enrolling to start mid-September in Malahide.
All the basics covered plus DNA testing.

Any courses in the South of the country?

There's a list on www.cigo.ie but it's a few years old. UCC runs some.

ETA: that list for Dublin is quite out of date now. At least 3 of the places don't seem to run it anymore.

Awh, don't rename it just yet! :D

There should be some courses near Belfast soon. Think their DNA summer school is nearly full. https://www.nifhs.org/resources/courses/

I haven't done this course - just enrolled for the October presentation - but I hope it'll be interesting.
