Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

In my opinion, Drew Harris is doing an outstanding job. To his credit, he has refused to sign off on Garda promotions pending the outcome of investigations into their conduct. The association of Garda sargeants & inspectors seem to have a problem with that. Lets hope the public give Mr Harris their full support, he is on the side of the people and as such he is a shing example to his thousands of subordinares. Fair play to him. If fact, if Drew Harris is a typical unionist, we need more of them in the republic and I say this as a fervent nationalist.

Another feather in Drew`s cap! By reducing the number of new recruits from 800 to 600, he not only saves the taxpayer a lot of money but he necessitates rank and file Gardaí to continue at their present grade as there will be fewer new recruits below them. Fewer promotions saves the taxpayer even more money. The Commissioner`s decision is not bad for communities because the Commissioners is opposed to the Gardai sending their time faking Breathalyzer tests but in favour of the Gardaí doing their jobs, and - by clamping down on the Gardaí who sit behind desks faking, he ensures they instead spend their time on the beat, marching two by two in problem neighbourhoods. Hence, no need for 800 new Gardaí, 600 will do just fine.

The important thing is that existing Gardaí do their jobs. So, chop chop!
