Yes I am very looking forward to a hunky dories box.

But the price has to make sense. Most of the time you can get a 9 pack for €3 so if a box of 18 is over €6 it doesn’t make sense.

    Yeah I’m that person :P

Winterval in Waterford is happening this year but due to social distancing some of the events wont be taking place. Love going to the food market on a weekend night and then into the pub for a few

The banshee bones sold out in a few days in Dealz and they’re waiting on another delivery of them. I’m on surveillance :D

Lidl is selling them for Halloween. I saw boxes of multipacks ready for the shelves in my local today.

I think I shared their menu a few years ago and got a similar response.
I've never got anything there but other café in the town menu's can be expensive enough also.

Cafe/restaurant prices. You wouldn't get a nice mince pie in a coffee shop for less than €2.50. Same with the cakes. €20 for a 6 inch cheesecake seems mad money but it would easily be a fiver a slice as a dessert. I just make them myself, cost way less and usually taste better.

I might just have a go at making my own mince pies this year! If they turn out to be duds I’ll just buy a box.

Havent been up in a couple of years now though, the lads were complaining we were too expensive last time I gave them a fee proposal. I even said they could pay us in crisps but that didnt work...;)

Ah you didn't meet me so, I'm full of Christmas cheer all year round. I do work in the maintenance dept though.:D

We actually don't get free crisps ourselves but can buy them fairly cheap, only thing is you get hounded by friends and relatives with the usual "will you pick us up a box and I'll give you the money next week".

I think it's usually closer to December before they are readily available.

I did see fresh sprouts in Tesco last week though!

Its a fruitbread/cake kind of hybrid. It also has a nice marzipan filling (though not all have this allegedly) through the centre. Its genrally dusted with icing sugar.
You can butter it when sliced, or spread jam on it if you really have a sweet tooth, but I eat it plain, goes down lovely with a cup of tea or coffee.

It wouldn't be anything like as dense as a fruit soda & would have far more fruit in it.

Reading local papers in Waterford regarding winterval

Sadly no Ice rink, santa arrival/opening and no visual show at nights

Masks to be worn in Santas grotto and can be taken off for pictures

The Christmas section is now up on the M&S website

    https://www.marksandspencer.com/ie/c/christmas-shop/christmas-at-home#intid=gnav-christmasathome

I remember waiting for their stuff to go 3 for 2 last year, which it never did.

Strolling aimlessly through the shops in November/December is definitely something I'm really going to miss this year. I usually would go through Dublin City centre every day on my way to and from work. It will just have to be replaced with scrolling aimlessly though websites instead.

I think RTE are going to be brutal this Christmas.

To be fair I suspect TV in general will be below par, though that's been a trend for a while now. Over christmas, pretty much like any other time of the year, other than the odd programme or film we have recorded we rarely watch 'live' TV & tend to stream most of what we watch. I might dip into a few repeats on Gold or Dave or whatever they're called nowadays but generally dont tend to sit down & watch that much TV. Though with socializing less likely this year that may change, though I suspect our viewing habits wont.

IN my local neighbourhood there is a house round the corner that puts their tree up around the 15th of Nov and they are the first near me.

Yep. Seems like the kids only went back to school a few days ago.

I've said it loads of times though, once the kids go back & we hit the 100/99 days mark on the countdown the time really seems to fly by at a fair old pace.

Before we know it it'll be the October b/h and then Halloween the weeks are going that quickly.

Our septic tank pals will be celebrating Thanksgiving and inviting us around, my OH wants to put our tree up the next day. It's going to be a different experience with a 20 month old.

This will be our second Christmas in the house, and this year we've a cat so I don't know how the combination of tree and cat will go...
I think we'll stick with starting to put the tree and decorations up on or after the 6th December. We keep them all up until Nollaig na mBan, however this is disputed every year by himself who starts asking around Stephen's Day when will we take them down... his grinchy ways are not as bad as they used to be though :)
