Hi all, if there is an appetite to do this, I can try to set it up to start next Friday. No bonus races like in the old tote game, all 1st and 2nd places will be awarded points based on prize money earned during season up to Grand National meeting.

Seems to be a few of you interested so please stick up your selections by end of day Thursday and we can have a bit of fun. Competition will start Friday and run to end of Aintree. Bragging rights is the prize. For all the experts here you cannot be slamming down peoples opinions if you have no entry (!!) so get that stable assembled and posted !!

10 horses with 2 subs in the transfer window January 1-7th. Points based on prize money earned 1st and 2nd places only. EUR = STG ie no fx

Where is best to find a list of all horses in training???

Also, is there more points for 1st & 2nd in Grades races versus handicaps?

The racing post guide to the jumps has a list of top horses ( Easons have it for €14), but if you look on any of the websites you will also see previews etc . I just picked mine from those previews and last years festivals

The points will be based on prize money earned in all 1st and 2nd placed horses. I guess there are some valuable handicaps ( grand nationals) but graded races seem to offer the most cash.

If you earn 52,400 prize money for a win in a race, you get 52 points. If you earn 52,600 for a win , 53 points awarded and so on. There are no bonus races

    So prize money = points

Biggest amount of prize money wins?

BumperD thanks for arranging, I would like to play. As an interest I am going to put a tenner on these selections every time they run, it will be interesting to see if I make a profit at the end of the year.

Champ is out today in a beginners chase at Newbury. Unless his price drifts I cannot bring myself to have a tenner on a horse at 4/6, especially over fences. In the same race Jeremy Scott runs Dashel Drasher, this horse won all 3 starts last year and I would rather lose a fiver at 6/1 than lose a tenner at 4/6.

You should do what you said and see if you can turn a profit, most horses on our lists will go off odds on at some stage this season if not many times.

I agree, I think you are right as well. I just really do not like backing horses at odds on, especially beginners' chases. I have seen top novice hurdlers not take to them before. Himself, al Dancer and Minello Indo are the 3 novice chasers on my list and I would rather save my few tenners till they run at the festival. I will probably get a better price there. There is good money to be made backing against favourites in beginner chases, this one today looks hot enough in fairness.

For what it is worth I have also had a whopping great big 2 euro bet on the Emma Lavelle horse at 50/1. He looks bred to be chaser and 50/1 is too big.
