Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Yes I've come across those types before, if its for makeovers or photo shoots. Everyone wins because they try to get you to buy stuff. You might win the fee covered for whatever the service is but when you get there they try to sell you stuff. Come across them regularly on uk comps. Hopefully im wrong, but the fact so many people you know won I would be suspicious

    Hi,

Just to let you know that I got my free make-up lesson done with Inglot. Yes, it was very much like Kittykat67 outlined, they are trying to see you their products and I got the distinct impression that they wouldn't be as nice to you or put in as much effort if you don't buy something. I didn't mind as I knew what to expect and I really wanted to get some new makeup anyway, but I would like to warn people about this so that they are aware of what the company is up to. It isn't really a competition if you are being given the hard sell when you thought it was a free entry competition. I don't mind buying a qualifier for a competition as long as I know that I have to buy the product beforehand. As I said, it suited me as I badly needed some new make-up, but forewarned etc.

Sorry guys. I posted that comp, I didn't realise it was like that. I just saw win Inglot makeup and was like, "Yes!" Must watch out for that.

On a better note, I came on to say I just won €50 from mykidstime to spend on jeans from M&S.
Could do with a nice pair of jeans. First win of the year too.
    Good luck to all.

If there's one good thing coming out of the Coronavirus, its getting so many emails from companies who have my email that I haven't heard from ever. Likelihood being I gladly handed it over in the hope of winning something from them or their associates. Alas I didnt.

    Unsubscribe me!!

    Nothing at all.
I've now sent two emails but still nothing.
In the current climate, they may be limited resources to respond, but still wonder are they blocking numbers?

I was wondering the same - I had a few entries in for it. My slogan wasn't great though.
I think it took them a long time to announce the Volvo winner in 2019 too so maybe they're still going through the entries..
    Hopefully it's not over!

The winner of the Irish Independent Volvo XC40 competition has been revealed. Thanks to the many readers who submitted their entries. Congratulations to the lucky winner of the Volvo XC40 - Mr. Robinson from Nenagh.

Just posting on an issue with the McGuigan's wine comp. Some people seem to be unable to send the text.
    TEXT COMPETITION. MCGUIGAN WINES
Win a 12 day trip to Australia for 2 adults.
1 entry per person per day.
TEXT charged at standard network rates.

    TEXT - MCGUIGAN to 51203
    Closing date 31st. MAY 2020.

No. My entry went though fine just now.
    DebJZ wrote: »
Yeah, mine didn't go through either, or my partners. Maybe it's the network we're on. I don't know.
Mine did for this, I’m on gomo. But for tv3 comp it didn’t
    Amzie wrote: »
I'm with virgin mobile maybe thats why :(

I'm with Tesco so that can't be the problem then. I'll get my sis to try it, she's with Virgin too.

My sister just entered fine and she is on Three Mobile (mistakenly thought she was with Virgin).
Anyone else have any idea why some people don't seem to be able to send the text?
Might it be a problem with Tesco and Virgin Mobile or could our numbers be blocked for another reason?
Just wondering what the reason might be. A year's supply of wine, it's a helluva prize. ;)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,277 ✭✭✭Cheshire Cat

According to the reply the prize is now a year's supply of MCGuigan wine.
Text goes through no problem. Three (3) costumer.

Yeah. My sis is on Three and she entered no problem. I don't enter many of these text comps so I don't think I'd be blocked for some nefarious reason. Tis' a mystery. Good luck anyway, be great if someone on here won.
    Lockdown sorted. Lol.

I also have 2 nowtv day sky sports passes that can be used when they are broadcasting new stuff again. Be warned they will auto renew unless you cancel them- I think this can be done as soon as they're activated. PM if you want one or both.

I'm not going to apologise for the duplicates (now removed) considering the amount of duplicate, triplicate and even quadruplicate links. If people would stop chatting, posters wouldn't have to go back more than 3 or 4 pages.
Normally I would search the thread (unlike some) but Boards crashed last night and I had to find all the links again and save to a text file for posting today...... perhaps I should not have bothered. I was thinking of taking some time out anyway, so this would be the right opportunity.

    Happy comping boardsies.

    Nope, lol
Just trying to be more organised. No offence to all the double, triple or quadruple posters (in case I've done it in the past myself too). I have lots of ideas for the group but don't see why I should stay silent when it takes pages and pages to find posts like Gormal said. Gormal you've done a great job so keep up the good work and I'll do the same :)

Absolutely! Your wish is my command BOSS. I don't understand the hostitilty on this "forum" so, don't worry I'll make it easy for you - if the only comping forum in Ireland treats their members this way, I'm out. I wanted everybody to enjoy the competitions and win something back. I never wanted to become a part of a hositle group who has issues with their member's wanting to be more organised. The Referral Comp was a rookie mistake and have asked the mods to remove it as soon as it was pointed out to me. I'm not sure what else you want me to say and I have nothing to apologise for either. Good luck everyone. Carry on Comping!

Ah lads I hope its the quarantine that has us all off form

This is a nice forum where we all look out for each other, I am not a big poster mainly because when I get time to enter most of what I have seen/saved has already been posted , the occasional double post does not bother me - I for one would rather see it twice than miss out

Comping is a distraction for me and a win is always a huge treat - be it a big or small prize

Hopefully both Gormal and Priestess101 will continue to post I appreciate the time and effort that goes into finding so many competitions and the generosity to share them, I am sure the rest of us feel the same way

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,529 ✭✭✭irishgeo

an idea is to setup a reddit forum and then we can flair the posts and the also moderate the posts so duplicates are not allowed.
