Here is a full list of the results of the DCU Intervarsity. Its in Excel format and all this information will be updated on the UCD website and eventually on to the Student archery website.

Thanks again to DOT and the gang at DCU for an excellent competition:D

PS. If i got any names wrong I'm sorry and I will correct them for you if you PM me.

Note that UCD and DIT medals were given a bit incorrectly, and team scores were not correct. Noel corrected DIT score in his table, but UCD is still wrong, as 6th score (Michael Greiner) is counted instead of 5th (Christopher Kadar). It does not change team places though.

I'll put results on UCD website as soon as possible ... but not today.

I started to process IV results for past years. There are some name misspellings on UCD website. Could anyone knowing for sure what is correct, write here or PM me. Some may be just alternative but correct spellings, then what is preferred spelling?

DCU IV results are on UCD website http://www.ucd.ie/archery/ in results section.

Team, male and female league and new advanced archers tables will be up soon.

Team, male and female leagues are also up on UCD website.

2004-2005 year generated as well and also put on website. If anybody notices differences between old and new versions, please let me know.

From now on, next competitions could be added quite easy and fast if I get data in comma-separated values format (Excel can save it as .csv, any text editor will do as well):
    DCU - 5th November 2005
    Noel Farrell,DIT,M,Advanced,40cm,532
    Alan Walsh,UL,M,Beginner,60cm,342
    Vachn Gill,GMIT,F,Compound,Vegas,419
    Niamh Bhreathnach,NUIG,F,Barebow,60cm,509
    ...
If student archery website ever goes on, all results could go there. Visual appearance could be easily changed, all is done by CSS and XSLT.

One more thing. Found this on our website
    http://www.ucd.ie/archery/download/Intervarsity_Guide.xls
Seems like Dermot made it last year. Kinda useful for IV hosts, target lists, score cards, etc. (Tony was unhappy of score cards at DCU because of X's)

People like to know when they get Xs. It's a shame he sees a problem in that. This is supposed to be fun also, ya know? :)

  • Registered Users Posts: 198 ✭✭ruiner

He said it was confusing as people would put an x in their score and a one in the x's colum meaning that people would be counting x's twice

Hrm... I think I can understand that alright. I haven't seen the scoresheets so I assumed it was the typical write an X instead of a 10 and that's that.

Yay for open standards - good on you MicS - I can now analyse the intervarsity results with some perl hackery to my hearts content

Never agreed with it the whole Xs-indoors thing meself - either we shoot FITA18 or we dont lads, next someone will be saying we should write down grades of misses i.e. M1 for on-the-butt M2 for in the net, M3 for in the wall, M5 for in someone's skull etc...

Do it as much as you like. Raw data is in http://www.ucd.ie/archery/csv/

If anybody curious how IV league would look like in earlier years, if we had current system in effect (not 10, 9, 8, ... points for places), results are here:
    http://www.ucd.ie/archery/iv01/team.xml
    http://www.ucd.ie/archery/iv02/team.xml
    http://www.ucd.ie/archery/iv03/team.xml

Of course, beginners then shot 60cm all the year, also some advanced archers shot 60cm. This cannot be fixed with any perl script.

Advanced archers and league records are also updated. So now all tables are generated automatically from a single source.

Some names could still be misspelled. Because of it, some people could appear twice under different names.

    Keith Colton, btw....

don't envy u trawling through the data! fun fun fun!!!!

  • Registered Users Posts: 743 ✭✭✭Renegade_Archer

    To quote my favourite sysadmin:

"Go away or I'll replace you with a very small perl script"

Seriously, anyone how ever had to do any kind of text processing, ever, learn Perl. It makes live bearable. Checking for duplicate names in a list is around 4 lines of perl, or a whole lot of man-hours if youre stupid.

Thanks for answers about the names. There are some still left. I'd try to ask people at the next intervarsity at Maynooth.

Nice to see the results are been kept up on the ucd site, good job Mikhail. Good luck on sorting out names, i gave up on that many years ago. The hard bit will be when the names are spelt differently at every intervarsity :P

I took the written guide to hosting an IV out of the excel file and put it in a text file for maynooth, put it up on the ucs site now, might be of more use.
