Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Does anyone know of a freephone (1800) number for Sky Ireland ?
I'm fed up after I was put on hold for 20 mins, cut off and then charged €12 by eircom.

Even a Geographic number which could transfer a caller to customer care.
    All sugestions appreciated :)

I was on hold for 20 mins, after being cut off a number of times I was charged the 0818 connection fee and was forced to call AGAIN.

Sadly there is no freephone number for Sky Ireland...you'd be lucky if you get through to an irish call center. Ive been put on hold for an hour only to be told that she (person i was talking to) was not fully trained:mad: Why did you answer the phone in the first place you idiot!!!

I use SayNoTo0870.com to get a UK geographical number, and call that from Skype (useful if you have UK bundled minutes with a landline/mobile/VoIP provider, as well).

    Hi there all

Eircom are the biggest load of gougers on the planet, I know I used to work for them.
My bills were crazy with them €210 every 2 months
I changed to Talk Talk, now my bills are €60 per month..
    Huge saving.

Now heres the good part. With TALK TALK you get to call the UK for free -
And I too have had serious problems with the DICKS from SKY and being left on hold for years and then getting cut off -
So I went in search of a land line number in the UK (scotland to be exact)

For new and existing customers of all Sky services
    00441506 421720:D

I got a Pakistani with a Scottish accent!? double whammy!!!:rolleyes:

So anyways, there you go folks. Change over to Talk Talk
Your calls will be cheaper than the eircom shower of planks
and you get to call the UK for free.
    :D

According to the eircom site the charge for a call to 0818 is 8.57c per min so according to that info you should have been billed €1.72

    1.60/min x 20 = 32 euro ????? not 12!

    12 euro / 20 min = 60c per min

I know it may not have been actually 92 mins i had to wait but i couldnt take a chance!

They get so much money from the calls but would they not be better trying to offer decent customer service, even if you are contacting them to cancel?

    Hello All,

I currently work in the Sky Ireland Cork Office we only have a certain number of Departments down here, The Departments that we have are Attractions(New Customers) Revenue(Existing Customer upgrades on sky+,multiroom and sky+HD, Retention (Cancellations, Downgrade on Viewing Package,Moving Home department,Coming back to sky within 12mths, Then last Department is RTM (were retailers in shopping centres call in)

Now there the only Departments in Cork rest Customer service for Ireland is based in uk its a irish numbers so dont worry not been charged UK rates same with Billing in Uk,,, Technical Department is Bases In India and overflow in Uk so if India to busy call goes back to Uk.

Here is some Direct Numbers to Call in

As you know 0818719819 is the Main Number with all the Options

0818719811 Is Technical Department (Option 3)
0818719858 Is Customer Service Direct Line you can go straight to them and they can transfer you to any Department
0818718836 Option 1 Is for Existing Customers Option 2 is for New Customers
0818718829 Installation Department if your calling regarding order you have placed also this number tends to act up sometimesso best bet is to call customer service and ask for install Department.

    0818...

Thanks but 0818 costs more than a call to British landline for many of us, that's what we are complaining about.

Do you have 02 numbers for these?

If your asking for 021 numbers then im afraid not mark unfortuntly most companys in ireland use these 0818 numbers now. as i see from the thread above there was a 021 number posted this is not Sky number were ever you got from i can gurantee that.

Incorrect. I was charged €12 after numerous calls to sky having been repeatedly disconnected.

"Most" that's rubbish, it's far from most companies using them, and even fewer who only allow you to call them on 0818.

Would it be cheaper to ring the 0800(0800 046 6432) number off saynoto0870 from Ireland rather than the 0818 number?

    You would dial 0044 800 046 6432 I think.

Sky having a freephone or a local number????? Oh i must chuckle!

Of course they will have a premium rate number and of course they'll disconnect you so you ring back and they rake in more money of us Irish!

The sooner the Irish Government step in and get to grips with Sky the better. Sky dont pay any Irish VAT, they are really taking us up the backside.

Is there anyone we can complain to, to stop all of this daylight robbery?

If only the Irish general public started to make a stand.

I agree that the contact number should be local rate or just a standard geographic number. 0818 is not premium rate though only national rate (approx 10c a minute).

10c/min is a premium rate number in this day in age!!

I think its more than that, as a phonecall to those other thieves Ryan air cost me 13€ once!

Good point as when national rate was introduced there was no such thing as all inclusive call packages. The Irish regulator really needs to introduce a number range like the 03 one in the UK which is non-geographic but price wise it's identical to geographic and so pay nothing when you are on an inclusive package. Not that the likes of Sky or Ryan-Air will ever use them :(

So I get the 'Sky' magazine and on the back of the cover page is an offer of Sky Sports for €8 per month.

Hmmm, says I, I was going to revert to SSports for the prem season anyway, switching between movies and sports in the off season as I do.
This way, I pay €8 more and keep movies (and herself happy).
So I ring the number quite deliberately printed on the offer, its UK and some foreign girl who can barely speak engrish tells me she cannot find any details of this offer. I explain its an offer to Sky Ireland customers only, and she still doesn't find it and offers me a different more expensive deal, which I refuse.
Her computer crashes (yeah) and I am still waiting on the promised call back.

So I remember this girl called to the door from Sky and left an Irish number: 0818719819. Yeah its Cork, buts its 'Hardware Dept' and they give me 0818719858 and its, you guessed it, UK, and, you guessed it again, they cannot find the offer.

Here's a direct quote from me to this nice Scottish Lass:
'So what do you think I should do, scan in the offer, email it to your customer service so Sky can understand what Sky have offered to its customers?'
    'Yes, that would probably help'

Sky TV, whom I have a long and varied relationship with (which is a whole other rant) are a complete and utter farce.

A friend of mine had the same experience with that offer and while on the phone to sky asked to speak to a manager, the result is that he got 6 months Sky Sports for free. The original customer services person he spoke to was also unaware of the offer. They seem to be clueless regarding the offers for Irish customers.

If I were you, I'd post a complaint to the Advertising Standards Authority: http://www.asai.ie/complain.asp

Clearly, the advert is misleading - even to someone who uses the service already and is familiar with upgrading packages.
