Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I'm trying to link a Vantage Pro2 to internet - haven't the foggiest [note weather metaphor] where to start :(

    Have you a website?

If so, use Cumulus Software to manage your station. Much better than the WeatherLink that came with the Vantage Pro 2.

    10.30pm Tropical Queensland

Cyclone failed to form but tropical low gave some places 200mm of rain.
    Currently 22.6C
    Humidity 93%
    17kmph winds gusting to 28kmph.

"Mild" day here temps maxed at 28c. V. Humid. No sunshine today, thick low cloud instead brought intermittent rain. Windy too. This less intense rain is very different to the rain that came earlier in the wet season. The sun will cross back into the Northern hemisphere on the 21st of June. The Earth also moves further away from the sun at this time of year meaning the engine that drives the epic thunderstorms here is fading (not yet further north in places like Darwin, Arnhem land and sometimes the Kimberley in WA)

Winds gusted up to 40kmph today, dull grey low clouds. Intermittent rain.
Definitely chilly this morning by tropical standards had goosebumps when i went outside this morning. At the time it was 21c but dull and very windy. In the afternoon you could feel weak humid heat in the air. Wet season and living in the tropics is an experience.

I`ve been here over 6 months and spent sometime in the horrifically hot top end during the hottest season - the buildup. It was 10 - 12 hour days outdoors in the heat so I have acclimatised.

Tropical Outback Queensland 1pm local time on Saturday

    28c, blue skies & breezy

Glorious day in the outback, the monsoon trough has broken here - it is at that time of the year now where we might not see a drop of rain until next November possibly even as late as January. Of course the trough might come back for one last blast but its getting very late in the season for here (far inland tropics). Coastal Queensland is still getting rain but can get rain all year round. The coastal North can get rain until June.

28c at the moment but the apparent temperature is 24c on account of the low humidity of 30% and the wind gusting to 28kmph. Pure blue sky, a real dry season day.

This is how Australia calculates the apparent temperature
    steadman_table.gif
    at_wc_table.gif
    http://www.bom.gov.au/info/thermal_stress/

I used to use the conversions back home, hope you find it useful :)
Notice how a 23/24c summers day in Ireland with humidity 60 - 70% can feel more like 26c+ i.e same relative feeling as the day here now. Here today feels just like a good summers day back home.

ps alpine snow in Tasmania and the Snowy Mountains around Victoria and Canberra areas

Beautiful morning currently 12.5˚c, blue skies and light wind (also got back online)

Using Cumulus Wild Bill, if its compatible with your station its easy to set up and if you sign up to wunderground you can upload your data to the web - all very easy if you want to give a go:D

Temp now 14.8C; (a 3 degree rise in 25 minutes!) - expecting the easterly-supported sea -breezes to kick in around 11.30 am.

In calm conditions on warm sunny days in Summer it can take the sea-breeze till 1pm to reach this far inland; so we tend to get a "double peak" maximum in calm sunny weather between April and July; roughly at 1pm and 4pm.

Now all I need is three months of cloudless, calm weather to harden up on these observations.

That's not much to ask for, is it?

    Sandyford @ 17.15 (Saturday)

Temperature: 16.0C (max 17.4c, highest so far in 2012)
    Humidity: 66%
    Rainfall today (so far): None
    Pressure: 1026.2hPa, steady
    Wind: SE 5kph/gust 12kph

Glorious day - the sea-breeze never arrived, I guess the sea/air temp gradient wasn't strong enough to suck it 8km inland over a ridge of foothills.
    Lot's of (sometimes hazy) sun.
