Hi, I am renting out my house for the first time this month. From a tax point of view, I read you can claim a "wear and tear" allowance for furniture etc over eight years. Does anyone know is it just a case of taking a list of all furniture in the house and putting a value on each of them or can this only be claimed where receipts are available? Also, we recently put in a new door, can this be claimed against tax?
