Bike stolen but recovered by gardai

    Hi all

    I'm wondering what to do next, apparently some thieves cut the chain on my bike but dumped it up the road. The garda said the only damage was the front fairing taken off in order to try and break the steering lock

    My dilemma is I'm not sure what to do, do I go to the recovery place and see if I can start the bike?

    Any advice would be much appreciated, as you can imagine I'm shocked and upset it was stolen

    id imagine going down and assessing the damage would be the place to start.

    If the bike doesn't start what should I do? I'm thinking if it starts I can duct tape the front fairing on and drive it home

    You then need a van to recover if it wont start. Go check it and see

    Check your insurance policy.
    You might have recovery included.

    Do I get it recovered to home or straight to the garage?

    Depends on whether you want to do the work yourself and the extent of the damage. Maybe get it to a garage if you're not too confident and get them to check it all over for you.

    Thanks I'm awful upset and stressed by it

    Can't get to see it yet as the Gardaí are giving it the once over

    Check the steering first thing.

    If they damaged the lock it could catch while you're turning the handlebars.

    Contact the garage and see can they drop down to the recovery place with you. They might even have a van to move it if it's damaged. Insurance recovery can be limited so try elsewhere before going with them.
