And anyway is Bruce Willis getting a bit old , so we'd be fcuked.

There is nothing to be concerned about, we still have Chuck Norris.

Word is, Elon Musk is preparing a special rocket to send him into space. Once there he will simply punch any space rock out of our way.

"Now that's what I call a close encounter...."

Is the scary bit not, that they didnt know an asteroid was passing that close to us untill 1 day away.

Actually this is true, yeah and thinking about it ... 0.1% ... is still too high for such a potential CATASTROPHIC event !!!

OK . Panic button back on !!!

If it hit Leitrim they'd notice.

    Nobody else would.

But we would maybe never have known what hit us..

yes, but for that final few seconds of consciousness, Friday 13th would flash into many people's minds... well, those of us that use the Gregorian Calendar that is!

somewhere in the pacific ocean, as far as I can make out.
It was half the distance to the moon away, which is a good distance, and a bit above the plane of the earths orbit aswell. But from what I can make out it passed closest around 10 am, from a point somewhere opposite the sun, so if it was a direct hit it would be somewhere near Hawaii, or basically anywhere in the pacific or the west half of north america

    Jsysus!
Tidal wave alone would have wiped Hawaii ... plus a good deal of the west american coast ...

Think of all the money being invested in milatary, pharmaceuticals or even the amount of money spent on marketing crap...

Now think about the impact a massive solar flare or asteroid or major climate shifting event may have on society.

I don’t care how unlikely it is to happen, the fact is these things will happen and we actually don’t have a clue when, just a guesstimate.

I can’t get over how utterly retarded our species is with regards to collectively protecting ourselves against things that could end us. At least we can have a nice boner OD’ing on Viagra and record the event with our one million pixels phones...

    Can't someone else do it?
