    What outlets are trustworthy then?

Later today we will get the review from Metacritic. It is due at 8pm PST.

Keep an eye out for Eurogamers review aswell but I think they are in love with the game so it will likely score very high here.

I must check out when ACG will have his review up. He is pretty much the only one I check reviews with these days.

He's probably the best reviewer that I've come across. That said, the demo was my main reason for purchasing the game.

I personally would take the vast majority of review scores by the big media outlets with a pinch of salt. The relationship between game devs and journos seems to be totally incestuous.

Same can be said about Streaming Reviewers such as that on YouTube. Too many of them, the high profile ones with hundreds of thousands to millions of subs, are sellout influencers.

Very true, I tend to watch a game on twitch the day it releases IF I am on the fence. I don't listen to what the player is talking about, I just use their game play to judge if a game is for me or not.

I'm buying it because I loved the original. The demo just showed how much I'm actually looking forward to it.

Completely agree. I am buying it for the same reasons. Really looking forward to it.

Ghost Survivors coming for free post launch.
Just announced on Capcom's Resident Evil 2 Launch Event Stream. Ghost Survivors is a free content update for REmake 2 that will be hitting post-launch, no date yet, but it's a new game mode where you can play as multiple characters, it'll be a mode with randomized elements, an in-game shop (not micro transactions, earn points in-game by performing well), and should be very replayable they say. Hints it might be like a randomizor/rogue mode, but no 100% at this time. Confirm that Robert Kendo, a USS Member and Katherine (mayor's daughter) are playable in it, surprisingly the characters from the main game not confirmed playable at this time (but say more characters to be revealed).

You had to finish the game in the original so in that sense it was hidden behind your first playthrough

I'm getting triggered by the fact I can't pre-download my pre-order before midnight Thursday. I don't know why 'cos I won't be playing it until Friday night. Why do videogames make me so irrational?

I remember playing RE2 when it first came out in 1998, so much hype then too, it was brilliant. Got my mate to play the first couple of hours while I watched cos I was terrified :D And so many replays. The remake demo was right on the money.

I hope to god the gattling gun is back in this as a special :pac:

Presume they'll do RE3 with the success this looks like it's going to be.

As an avid gamer in the 90s and now only refinding my love for it, albeit only for an hour or so a week I must say I’m excited to hear of this remake, throw in the Ff7 remake and happy days

As someone who never played the original, what exactly is the IGN reviwer so annoyed with??. Without spoiling anything.

With the original you unlocked the alternate characters scenario which is like the other side of the story.

It seems however that instead all you get now is the second scenario for your current character.

So it used to be like:

Beat the game with Leon - unlock Claires B scenario

Beat the game with Claire - unlock Leons B

    Now it's Leon A - unlocks Leon B

    Claire A - Unlocks Claire B

So there's no feeling of crossing over.

There was some cool things in the original where you got a choice of item and the one you picked in A wouldn't be there for the B scenario.

Am I wrong thinking Nemesis was a really short game. I remember playing the Trilogy years ago & may have rushed that one but I recall it being noticeably short

Not sure it's a popular opinion but I can see the reviewers point of view.....

Not for me. I cleared that game close 30 times I'd say. Played it to death.

Another game I loved was Dino Crisis!!

Resident Evil 1,2,3 all took about 6 - 8 hours on the first play through

Nemesis was also the start of the mercenaries, doing well have you money to buy weapons for the main game which was cool. Dino Crisis was brilliant.

I only finished another replay of Nemesis recently.
My run was 9 hours. It's quality over quantity.

RE3 has huge replay-ability due to the ammo crafting. I done a shotgun run this time round to get enhanced rounds.

    Sometimes grenade launcher. Sometimes Pistol.

I doubt the reviewer was even a twinkle in daddys ballsack when Resi 2 originally came out. How could you see something that immediately gives the game replayability (and doesn’t require any extra money, only that you enjoy the game 1 time through) as a negative?

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,437 ✭✭✭biggebruv

Games are so much harder to create nowadays that doing a and b scenarios for both characters just seems a waste of time and money I prefer the fleshed out story for both characters

But at least they kept one cool part you finish both characters then get the true ending so I’ve read anyways. Plus nowadays with tons of games around who wants to play a game 4 different times just to see all the content I know they moved stuff around in the b scenarios but they were still basically the same most of the way through

I had something RE to say but after catching up on the thread, all I can think about is how much I love DINO CRISIS :pac:

  • I can't believe people are moaning about the character select thing.

What's worse is some of the folks reviewing this game haven't even played the original or were too young to remember.

I loved going from Leon A to Claire B in the original, felt like 2 games. I find it very weird you have to do Leon A to Leon B and then same for Claire. Actually, looking it up, maybe that's still the case? IGN have taken down their techie to re-evaluate. I read they blocked people who pointed out their mistake, classy.

IGN are a bunch of clowns, the person clearly never played the original either (they don't have had to but don't say so in the review).

Watched Skillup's review who has it as one of early contenders for GOTY but it's kind of dampened my enthusiasm for a couple of reasons.

The Tyrant. Haven't been mad about this from day one. Skillup said it's probably the best feature of the game but accepted some people don't like timers. I'm some people. I just can't reconcile myself with this concept.

Lack of resources. Ok this is a staple of survival horror and has never been a problem before but I’m concerned as several reviews have commented on the resources being much less than previous games. Combine this with the never give up zombies and the Tyrant, I’m worried

I’ve no doubt this is a great game I just wonder if it’s something I’ll have the patience for. I’m certainly leaning towards selecting
    assisted difficulty

Cd keys has slightly cheaper digital versions of the games than xbox store

Standard is 42 euro and deluxe is 52 euro. Absolute bargain for anyone game sharing.

That is the real issue. A good number of the reviews and also the youtubers have never played the series or the original RE 2 in its entirety. This is going to be a massive success for Capcom and it is going to slingshot them into remaking other RE games no doubt.
