Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

bunk beds/triple sleepers

    I am looking for a metal (preferably) frame bunkbed, probably one of those with the 4' base and the 3' top.

    Its for an airb&b situation and I am a bit nervous of how strong the general run of bunk beds are. I have visions of 3 sturdy kids bouncing on the top bunk! Though they won't be able to bounce all that hard as there will be a sloping ceiling above it.

    I have never had any experience of bunk beds, does anyone have any general advice on what to look out for? Thanks.

    No particular advice other than that which I've applied successfully to IKEA self build furniture: glue the stuff together as well as using the standard fixtures.

    If you get wood there should be good surface area with tightly matching surfaces to glue. If metal, look for decent amount of mating surface which are bolted together (some simply slot together). Sand the mating surfaces with rough sandpaper (or better still, use an angle grinder) and something like Tec7 during assembly.

    And/or. Bracket it to the wall (solid masonary or into studs) will make it rock solid. If you don't give it room to move, it won't loosen up

    Trouble is, you'll have a hard time taking it asunder again :)

    The triple bunk bed is constructed of hardwood and features sturdy supports and a ladder on each level. Laminated legs are also used to make the bed. The triple bunk bed's design and construction make it an excellent choice for a child's or teen's room.
