Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. Looking forward to seeing Battash back out.

Loving seeing Love been declared for the POW. The distance might be a bit short but the ground is ideal and she had the speed to win a Guineas.

All-in all it's shaping up to be a brilliant week of racing.

PP offering a free €5 bet on 2:30 race tomorrow. Anything other than Palace Pier (currently 4/9) in with a chance of winning it?

    Don't think so, he's 2 from 2 this year.

Order Of Australia has some top class form at a mile and is still open to improvement at the trip plus the Australia's improve with age and all that still wouldn't be enough. Somehow it's hard to imagine Aidan having him revved up against a bit of a monster on his first outing this year.

Lope Y Fernandez ran a stinker on the Soft ground behind Palace Pier in the Lockinge. If he's not fubared he has a good chance of finishing 2nd on this much better ground.

Would take a swing at something like Lord Glitters with the free fiver myself

10/1 w/o Palace Pier is probably the best place for the free fiver

A bit of a joke they chose that race considering it has a 4/9 fav!

Doesn't allow the betting w/o either with the freebet.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 582 ✭✭✭deeks

My free fiver will go on Sir Busker. Into 18/1 now so not loads of value but has decent Ascot form and will like the ground. Favourite looks solid but you'd have to take a bit of a swing.

Aside from that I think Bullace might be overpriced in the St. James Palace. Only beaten a length behind both Mostahdaf and Highland Avenue last time and those two are single figure odds. Worth a few quid at 40/1 4 places with Paddy.

The other one I had my eye on today was Dalton Highway for Dermot Weld in the Ascot Stakes but some of the shine is taken off that with the price falling dramatically overnight. Still available at 16s with Bet 365 but the question is whether to take the better price with them or play the extra places with PP. Paddy playing 6 places but now as short as 11/1 so I think I'll chance the 16s 4 places Bet 365.

Still a free bet is a free bet. They do one every saturday, you don't even have to match it.

I've just gone into the app and can't find that in the offers section? Did you do it in the App?

When you go to place a bet it gives you a tickbox for the stake for a free bet.

If LA BARROSA hadn't run in the Irish 2000 what price would he be today, 7,8/1?
Think 20/1 with 4 places is huge on this ground.

Has Battash lost this race twice before? Wouldn’t be going big on him

  • Registered Users Posts: 225 ✭✭Morleystreet

I can’t let Ornate (3:40) go off at 250/1 (4places) without a bet. I’d just be raging if he placed and didn’t take him at that price. Shouldn’t be in this company in one sense and form this year wouldn’t give any hope.

However he can put in one superb performance a year and a repeat of his excellent run in good wood last year (neck behind glass slippers, 2-3L behind battash) would give him a place prospect. Probably finish last and at that price that’s to be expected, but just in case his one big performance this year occurs today, I’ll take my chance.

A race too far for Battash.

Jason weaver is some clown from looking at that performance his verdict was that Battaash will be "impossible to beat at Goodwood"

Too late to be putting it up but Jeez the 28/1 5 places on Wembly seems like a great bet. He's not here to make up the numbers . Obv i'm also with Ontario (god loves a trier)

Hopefully Bolger keeps all those dark forces at bay again.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,702 ✭✭✭tryfix

Wembley's very big at 33/1, could easily run into 2nd or 3rd place if he's straight today

Arthurian Fable might be worth a punt on the 6.10. Connections around Naas are quite confident. Everything is in its favour.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,702 ✭✭✭tryfix

    That was mighty impressive.

Serious horse to put up a performance like that after being out 4 times already

I believe Ger Lyons had the balls to ask Jim whether he had crossed to the dark side and whether he had discovered the magic dust!

There ya go. Poetic Flare repeats the feat of his aul lad 8 years ago.

Of course I backed the second who is now off to stud

After winning and running so well on Soft Ground that Good to Firm win showed that he's a true champ that can handle anything that's thrown at him.

He's obviously got a great constitution to go with a great motor. He'll be in demand at stud.

I've backed the Stout horse - Solid Stone here in the 5.35. At around 9/2 looks a cracking E.W bet. I've backed it to win and also E.W.
Patrick Sarsfield and Solid Stone look outstanding in this race and wouldn't be surprised if Patrick Sarsfield is placed, but for me Solid Stone with Moore aboard will hopefully do the job.

5.45 Brighton, Big Time Maybe @ around 9/4 is a lay bet, can't see it winning.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,380 ✭✭✭STB.

If they find a button to switch off Patrick Sarsfield he'll win plenty of big races. Just saw the stat on that Stakes race, 4 out of the last 7 winners have been drawn 5.

Don't know why Global Storm is so short in the last at Ascot. Brilliant Light is a much better horse than him and is 3 times his price at 12/1.

Ger said it tongue in cheek jokingly. He was on off the ball today with Joe Molloy and mentioned. It certainly wasn’t an accusing way

I never said it was any other way. You'd have to be a lunatic to say it any other way to Jim. He'd tear strips off ya.

The full context of it is following Jim's article with Kimmage in last Sunday's Independent about tackling doping, something that Jim's been looking for, for some time. Ger Lyons backs him up.

It's a fascinating situation. It would be ridiculous to imagine that plenty of trainers wouldn't be using nearly every advantage possible to win races.

The question is at what levels is it taking place. Assuming that Jim himself is absolutely clean then how can he win pattern races against these cheating trainer?

His Poetic Flare gave that St James Palace field an 8-10+ lb beating today. What use are the illegal drugs if they can't produce significant improvement in a runner ( lengths ?)

It's all quite puzzling. I would assume that the allegations are true but where are the unbelievable performances in Irish Flat racing?

Looking at 2 at big prices in the Hunt Cup tomorrow.

Cliffs of Capri is hugely consistent at Ascot. Has run there seven times and only once outside the first 4. Should love the ground and looks big at 40/1 7 places with PP or 50/1 5 places with Bet 365. Doesn’t win that often but almost always runs his race and has won off 93 at Ascot and is only 4 lbs higher today.

Also gonna chance a few quid on Revich. Has run well is some big handicaps finishing on the premises. Likes being held up and coming late so Hayley Turner will suit him and first time blinkers might help him travel better early. 50/1 PP 7 places or 66/1 with Bet 365 5 places.

Only one bet tomorrow and that's Wordsworth. Looks a cut above this lot.
