Cardiff Blues have added Alan Kingsley to their coaching team this week as a kicking consultant.

Kingsley also works in a similar consultancy capacity with Dragons and Biarritz Olympique, and will primarily work on individual skills with Cardiff Blues academy backs.

When coaching in AIL with Navan he was central in their rise to division 1. Real top class coach

Weir won't be there until next season. Keatley to Glasgow was reported to be until the end of this season.

2 massive games in a Connacht perspective

If it's 5 points to nil for Cardiff, we can say we're in Champions Cup in 2021-22

Balls. Was full sure the Glasgow v Edinburgh game was on now. Pretty sure I even read that KO time on Ultimate rugby.

It might have been mentioned earlier in the thread but checking the Pro 12 table why have Ospreys, Glasgow and Zebre swapped groups with Scarlets, Edinburgh and Treviso 🀔

    They haven't. It's just a glitch.

Glasgow (and Connacht inderectly for qualification) saved by a train horn!!

Embra SH kicked to ball out, conceeding a pen before HT, mistaking it with the buzzer

That's what rugby is about :D

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,963 ✭✭✭connachta

Glasgow used to win with Peter Horne. Now they win with train horn :D Pure magic

Pro14 almost certainly reverting to full programme of games and playoffs.

It always seemed fairly ambitious trying it this year with everything going on

I assumed they wanted the South African teams to get competitive games before the lions tour. I'd expect a statement soon saying the lions tour is postponed now since the Rainbow cup won't go ahead.

They already said decision will be at the end of February.

This is probably not bad news, the league will at least mostly have games that happen giving us some rugby to watch.
Covid will be around seriously till the summer and hopefully next season we can start fresh with the knowledge that the season will run as normal with crowds starting to return in some form.

Ah, the decision on the Lions tour will be independent of the Rainbow Cup. The SA provinces could just play each other and get more competitive rugby than they would from most Pro14 sides.

But I can't see either tournament going ahead.

It's far more sensible to play out a full season within our own region than to introduce the SA element to proceedings. When they introduce the SA teams, they should do it in the correct manner and not some cobbled together mid-season approach.

Regarding the Lions tour, I wouldn't rule it out at this point. It's likely to be a commercial decision rather than a healthcare one, for the most part. The vaccination roll out in the UK is accelerating at a rapid pace and there's a genuinely strong chance that the UK based players would be vaccinated ahead of flying to SA under the current rate and plan.

    Empty stadiums though?

    2022 makes more sense.

Indeed i.e. it will be a commercial decision overall.

They can push it to 2022 but there will be a massive knock on impact with respect to other tours. For example, will NZ be happy to give up a 3 match test series against Ireland?

They'll have little or no appetite (and neither would Ireland ) to have a game involving an Irish team stripped of their 5-10 best players. Similarly, Australia aren't going to want to host an England side minus 10-15 players. They have enough trouble filling their stadiums at the best of times.

A discussion for another thread anyway.

There would be few enough Ireland players in the Lions' Squad I suspect. The 3 match series could go ahead could go ahead.

The unions would not be happy with a 2022 tournament. Given the affect the lions tours usually have on form and fitness for the following 12 months. That could be seriously damaging for England and a lesser extent for Ireland and Wales.

Scarlets are fairly poor here so far.

Have decided I want Cardiff to win purely due to Steff Evans haircut

Does he not have any friends?

It's a poor game over all, really.

Really poor. The pitch is in bits and the weather is crap, so that won't help, but the quality on show is very low.
