His gran doesn't even think they've made a good album since 2001

The little fella is mad about them (due to a music mad teacher)

No doubt, I was referring to the hassle of getting more than one ticket :)

Ah, so you're one of those naïve suckers who gets hoodwinked by ticketmasters antics. Ticketmaster issue a warning that tickets almost sold out, and you soil your pants. You need to get in there to give them your €100. Because you have no understanding up the concept of creating hype.

I'd go to about 35 gigs a year generally. I can't remember the last time i paid pull value for a ticket. Go along to the venue about 1.5 hours before it starts. Suss out the availability with touts. They will generally look for over the odds amounts. But as the minutes tick by, their price goes down. Have a few cans for yourself whilst you wait. Then close to the gig, make an offer to the tout. He'll tell u to F off. Advise him that if he changes his mind, you might hang around. He'll go off. But most times, they will come back to you eventually and give for you price. At that point, I'd be extra cheeky and lowball them even further. They don't want to be stuck with them. If they get 20 euro for a 60 euro ticket, it's better than nothing. I paid 30 euro for a 100 euro radiohead ticket for 3 arena couple of years ago. Missed the first song. But 30 euro!! FFS. It's like the antithesis of touting.

I live in Dublin, so its easy for me. But even if out the sticks, you can still haggle with people selling tickets on donedeal, adverts, gumtree etc. Toutless often has people selling below value, but need to be careful on that website, as there are certain rules in place.

For RHCP and Guns n roses in Marley Park, if I haven't secured a ticket for €40 beforehand, I'll head out to Marley Park on the day, and I can guarantee I'll get one for that or cheaper.

Yeah it's not done much for me either. I've given them an airing on every album since 2000 and I've not been on board. I was a massive fan in the 90's and I thought Flea was a bass god . I've no idea how they went from the highs of BSSM to doing stadiums in the early 00's and beyond with the material they had?????

Aquatic mouth Dance is Flea's best recording in some years for me, and I hope that was him playing trumpet on it!!!!!!!!

It's grand. This band was special to me when I was younger, they were the first band I saw live so I'm just glad to see them still at it.

Podcast of Rick rubin interviewing John frusciante here; I listened to it for about 2p minutes and even though I wouldn't be an RHCP fan, it was kinda interesting

By The Way is certainly one of my favourite albums of the 2000s but unfortunately this new one isn't doing anything for me at all so far. I'll keep at it, but I think I'm just over the Chilis now. You don't exactly get great variety in their songs.

They did under the bridge after an interview and a talk about the song on the Howard Stern show in recent days and I'm thinking how are Kiedis or John even alive. I was a huge fan in the 90's but almost shocked by their popularity in the 00's and later none of it did anything for me.

I’m more impressed by how coherent and articulate Frusciante is honestly. I remember one interview in Guitar World after sobering up and he was still completely disconnected for the world. Referring to the 9/11 attacks on the Empire State Building for example. Struggling to string sentences together.

He’s influenced me more than any other guitarist. Have all his solo stuff on CD still. Still worship Flea and BSSM is one of the very few albums I’ve no issues with. But Unlimited Love is just shite. For me, you could chart the JF albums and they have been on a downward trajectory since BSSM with this having nothing I can latch onto. Kiedis’ phrasing been particularly painful in places eg dark as “durk” etc.

They seem fairly tight in performing though, so I’m still going to see them. I’d imagine like Navarro’s input, Josh’s time will be expunged from the set list.

Oh for sure, John has had some serious relapses over the years. I had the tab book for BSSM growing up so know it back to front on both guitar and bass. I've a pal who was good and drums back then who now makes a living from drumming and Smith was always number 2 on his list of best drummers, Jimmy Chamberlin of Smashing Pumpkins was better in his view back then and I've been to clinics with him from both drummers here in Ireland.

Some of Flea's best work was on one hot minute. Aeroplane, Transcending, Coffee Shop and then he went on to play on Jagged Little Pill with Navarro and the late great Taylor Hawkins.

Weirdly I was only reminiscing about JLP today with a friend. I borrowed it off a girl I really fancied in 6th year and remembered trying to impress her with my knowledge of who featured on the album. Arse that I was.

Went through a phase of listening to aeroplane on repeat for about a week it two last year. Flea absolute carries that song along while DN just wahs pornos/JA Style all over it. Nearly bought a bass again.

Now that I’m back in my youth I need to YouTube their joint appearance on Letterman for Hard Charger.

Navarro was a generation early for the Hills etc lol wasn't he? Still it's hard for me to reconcile seeing them live in Dalymount in 94 , the point in 95 with them playing stadiums and the park here after the turn of the century with to me was weaker material and them changing as a band for not even the first time in 20 years at that point.

EDIT: I've One hot minute on here " One big mob oh **** oh ****!!!"

Fuck forgot about Transcending, and Shallow be thy game. I bought pedals to play those properly back in the day.

I tuned out during/after Californication and even that record was something I didn't give much credibility to until recent years but that was actually a really good if not a career highlight for them.
