Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Why do people think Christopher Walken is strange?

    I always wondered this.
    He's interesting. Different. Compelling.
But why do people go so far to call him strange.
Watching him on an old Letterman interview he is the most genial, cool guy you could meet.

    https://youtu.be/hFWActekWZs

Yet people always highlight his strangeness.
I loved him in True Romance, Pulp Fiction, Annie Hall (mostly off kilter characters he plays) and the fact that he's an accomplished dancer but he himself isn't really strange is he.
For example I read a mini-biography that described him as "unsmiling". But he's not. He smiles a fair bit. As in that interview. Is this projection at play here.
    Thoughts?

I've moved this thread from After Hours to the FIlm forum which is a more appropriate place for this dicussion.

Please, take, note of, the local. Charter before, posting. (say it in a Walken voice :) )

No one calls him strange, what a ridiculous thread. Seems like a cool customer.

This is Christopher Walken Strange googled.

So people do think this apparently.

That video just proves how annoying David Letterman is.

Never heard people talking much about Chistoper Walken apart from his roles.

It's not that I think he's strange, it's just that he's exactly what I'd imagine a strange person would act like if they were trying to be "normal".
"Goodbye Moon, goodbye Blue ... come closer child"

Nah, I actually think he's fine, it's the likes of Taylor Swift and Tom Cruise that I find truly strange.

Yeah but you could do that with anymore.

Michael Barrymore, Rolf Harris, Dale Winton, etc.

The hospital balcony scene! I'm tearing up, just thinking about it! (Oh sh!t, this is hard! :() I have PTSD. Seeing him loosing it as the Doctor just stares at him. " We've gotta get him out of here. " FFS! Too f**king real!

Sorry I could not resist. :P

I think he is quite interesting, but I do think he goes for the quirky roles which many then perceive him as strange as a result.

Random fact - when he was 15 he worked in a circus as a lion tamer.

he also helped choreographed the dance in Weapon of Choice too apparently.

Well having a hand in Naomi Woods death (allegedly) would make anyone strange.

He was on the boat with Robert Wagner when Natalie Wood went overboard and drowned. Currently that's still recognised as an accident.
    Unless you have other information?

Well he plays a lot of sinister characters but he does have an unusual thing where the sides of his mouth point downwards so it can look like a grimace and then his eyes look like they are always smiling. He was also very androgynous looking when he was younger.

I've thought way too much about this and I didn't even think he was strange in the first place :pac:
