Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Was everything a racehorse should be, great career and had a great retirement.
Wonderful example of how things should ideally go for all involved.

Dancing Brave by a country mile, a 2,000 Guineas and Arc and much more winner with the turn of foot of a champion sprinter. Sublime.

Flyingbolt, Cheltenham 1966 won the Champion Chase in a canter then less than 24hours later led over the last in the Champion
Chase finished a close 3rd, 4 weeks later won the Irish Grand National carrying 12st 7lb.

2 exceptional horses. Delighted for their trainers to have horses like that at the times of their career.

    NH - Kauto Star
By an absolute mile my favourite horse. As much for the downs as the ups. How many times did everyone say he was finished and then he'd roar back with a win. His final year on the track was special to say the least. At his best he was simply breathtaking. Even on his off days he never threw in the towel. His longevity at the highest level will never be matched in my opinion.

Honourable mention to clan royal who was my first ever bet when 2nd in the National and who I solely blame for all the money I've lost since!

Istabraq over the jumps. I did have a soft spot for Tied Cottage back in the day and some of those who were 'nearly' great. Merry Gale was a horse I loved to watch jump a fence. Doran's Pride another.

A lot of horses I remember fondly tend to be ones who could have been great(er) like Golden Cygnet, Nick Dundee, Montelado and from the flat Golden Fleece.

Others that were never the biggest stars but who were memorable to me include Strong Platinum, Limestone Lad, Bright Highway and many others going back far too long.

I’ve a few favorites that aren’t superstars, they just ran well anytime I backed them, my fav has to be caspian prince tho, you get everything from him every time and some big price wins down the years.

Had a soft spot for peddlers cross the year hurricane fly beat him still hurts.

For me it has to be Kauto Star. There aren’t too many horses that you look forward to seeing weeks before they run. 2006/2007 was magical. Jesus he was some horse.

Seabiscuit read a book about him that was fantastic
Red Rum hard to beat his National record
Desert Orchid was huge at a time

Think they really captured the general public's imagination at their prime

    Istabraq.
Never had a bet on him as was worried I'd jinx him!
In the days when there were so few Irish trained winners at Cheltenham, he always delivered. A large photo of istabraq proudly displayed on wall in my home, much to the dismay of my wife. ( only a small photo of her on the mantelpiece).

Also a mention for Morleystreet (......obviously!)

Can't believe Himself hasn't got a mention. You must all be too young. However, as a Scouser my favourite has to be Rummy.

    Red Rum definately.
Don't follow the racing much recently, but yeah, suprised no ones mentioned him.

Sprinter Sacre would be #1. A once in a lifetime horse. Loved Vautour as well, just so effortless. Thistlecrack out of current crop, hopefully he has his day in the Gold Cup, would be one of the greatest stories in the history of the sport.
