Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Bombers fan here!! Have been for a squillion years. Didn't go to a game last year or even the year before I think and won't get to one this year :p

Grew up a stones throw from Windy Hill (the Bombers old home ground) and even had one of the players as teacher in Primary school! Will be interesting to see how they go under Knights, change of coach was due, all respect to Sheeds.

First game is Easter Monday against the Kangas.

And Collingwood are meant to be playing a exhibition game in Ireland after the season I heard. Actually was talking to one of the players about it at Tulla airport on their way back from Dubai from the game they played there in Feb.

Really? That'd be quality. I'd say there'd be plenty of interest in that game if it happens. Wonder where it'd be played though.

Anyway, welcome aboard! Bombers are my second team cause of James Hird.

Apparently they (Collingwood) have agreed to play Dublin in Croke Park. Though it seems the game will be either an International Rules OR a Gaelic Football game. More info here: http://www.arfli.com/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=352

I wouldn't be too sure of this going ahead if the IR series is revived this year.

    Thanks Xavi6!! :)

Ah, Jimmy Hird !! Nothing like watching him tear up the MCG, Mind you Michael Long was poetry in motion!!

Yeah, it will be great to watch Collingwood get beaten :p Its a prerequisite for Bomber fans to 'hate' Collingwood!!

I recall back in August seeing a Fremantle Dockers match of one of the cable stations here - made me homesick!!

    Hi
Dockers fan here, cos my brother lives near there & that's his team.

Thrilled that Setanta are showing at least 1 game live on Saturdays this season, and a delayed full match to follow.

Ah no bother. Glad (and surprised) to see so much interest. The thread for last weekend's games even made it to three pages!

Few of us were online watching at the same time so it was a bit of craic.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,432 ✭✭✭big b

Was good stuff last weekend alright. Barrage of texts between me & young brother was the nearest I got to a bit of craic though.

Wee fecker gave away the St Kilda result before I could tell him not to (full match was on delayed viewing after the Barry Hall show.)

Way great work in the Sys thread guys and thanks mods/admins/overlords for giving it a go.

Special thanks to Xazi for getting the ball rolling.

Anyway Lets see who supports who.

St.Kilda fan here. Gutted we just missed the finals last year, looking for an improvement this time round.

Hawthorne fan here! Been a while since I seen em play live. Last time was a few years back at the MCG when they were hopeless. Things thankfully have changed.:)

Watched it previous years sitting at my in-laws place eating cornflakes and trying to be quiet so I wouldn't wake everyone up. As you can appreciate I kinda miss a few beers and a bbq!!!!

Quick question, probably doesn't warant a new thread.

Do new jersey's come out each year? I wanna get a Carlton one, but there'll be a new one for next season I'll hold off til it's out.

Edit: Also, can you buy them with numbers on the back?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,898 ✭✭✭✭Xavi6

Yeah you can get numbers on them usually at the club shop or the official AFL stores. I have a player issue one which is class. The clubs don't usually change every year, and when do the changes are usually very subtle like a different collar etc.

Cheers Xavi. I thought the sponsors might change or something like that. I wanna get a Judd shirt, so 5 on the back. He's my hero *blushes*

    Another newbie here.
Don't follow any of the main clubs (although have always kept an eye out for Geelong results for around 10 years now) so here more just a fan of the game.

And a fan of course of my ex-club, the Belconnen Magpies. (Yep, there IS actually footie played in the ACT!)

Carlton shop do Judd specific jerseys price $125 AU.

Blues fan as well. Disappointing start to year being 3-3 but hopefully it's onwards and upwards from here starting with Freo

Only one!! Hoping for tickets from my aunt, but I'm not holding my breath. I went to see them kick Port Adelaide's arse though, that was grand. You?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,898 ✭✭✭✭Xavi6

The Port game is the only game I've missed. Going again today to hopefully see them get back on track against the Dees. Last week was a real sickener.

Tickets are surprisingly easy to get.

****e, that was a REALLY close game, thank god we won that one, I was doubting a few times. Compared to the Port one it was very close.Tense the whole way through! I had time to sit and watch it today with my dad which was nice. Wish I could've actually been at the game, lucky you mate. What did you think??

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,898 ✭✭✭✭Xavi6

We were absolutely awful. So many basic skills lacking it wasn't even funny. The likes of Spangher, Schofield and Scott Selwood are average at best.

It was tough losing Priddis before the game and Kerr early on and you could see they were badly missed. The amount of behinds we kick is ridiculous. Think the post was struck 4 times today.

Le Cras was superb though, best player on the ground imo. Always a danger anywhere around goal.

All our thoughts exactly -swears- it was sloppy. :( Just feckin' sloppy. It was like they were thinking 'oh well we're not gonna win' but on occasion, they sorta picked up. It was a pity with Kerr but we were REALLY lucky to push through. Lots of misjudged kicks, that's for sure.

Found about Aussie Rules about 6 years ago flicking through TG4 and suddenly it appeared. Following it ever since. I'm a Geelong fan, my surname is Long so it seemed like the logical connection.
What an amazing team. Might not have superstars like Fev or Lance Franklin but they truly are more than the sum of their parts. There gonna make it 2 outta 3 this year. Up the Cats!!

Bet you're laughing right now, they're doing great. Pity about the Eagles.

Ya it's brilliant, I remeber supporting them when 10th in the table wasn't a huge disapointment. The Eagles have gone back a lot I used to enjoy their football, good and fast. Losing Judd and Cousins was a mortal blow. And Kerr losing his nut a few weeks ago didn't help..
