    Hi Folks,

I know this has been asked before but I am just checking in case anything has changed.

If I get a friend in Oregon in America to post rifle magazines to me here in Ireland, would either of us be breaking the law in doing so (either American or Irish law).

Just to be clear, I have a licence for the firearm that the magazines are for.

Is import documentation needed for bringing in rifle magazines from the States?

    Thanks.

I think once the value is under $100 excluding shipping you are ok from US side. If you go over $100 you need an export licence.

You may have to collect the magazines in person from customs in Ireland to (A) Pay the duty And VAT which is chargeable on the parts and shipping (B) Show your firearms licence to prove you have a firearm.

If 10 round magazines a Firearms Certificate is required and if greater than 10 rounds a Restricted Firearms Certificate is required to be produced.

FIK once they are 10 rounders or less, you shouldn't have any probs. Your lic is your authorisation to import from outside a EU country for parts.

So no paperwork needed then for 10 rounds or less, yes?

What's the story if it's larger than 10 rounds?

does your friend want an ATF agent at his door? cuz that is likely what will happen.

That's why I'm asking the question, would any of us be in trouble if he posted stuff to me.

You used the word 'likely' in your post. Out of curiosity, do you know what you are talking about or are you guessing?

Then it becomes an ITAR issue. Which requires state dept clearance for the sale, lots of paperwork and a 200 usd export liscense.

"The Export of commodities described herein is strictly prohibited without a valid export license issued by the U.S. Department of State Office of Defense Trade Controls prescribed in the International Traffic in Arms Regulation (ITAR), Title 22 Code of Federal Regulation, Parts 120-130

Out of curiosity have you tried sourcing it in the EU?A couple of EU countries are ITAR export exempt and have pretty much everything the US has in mags.

Would you have any particular web site/shops from these countries? (to share with us?)

Depends on what you are looking for?
www.egun.de is a good overall site.[The English translation is crap tho.Best use an online translator.]

www.triebel.de in Berlin always a look.
www.frankonia.de overpriced these days, but their catolouge is kind of the benchmark of what everyone else in Germany will charge you [if they can get away with it:)].
www.luxguns.com gets some exotic stuff as well.

What comes under ITAR these days?
    Barrels, bolts, mill spec scopes!
But what about trigger groups or any item less than 100 buck (even a bolt for 99$)
