Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    HI
    Looking at the option of getting in to Contract rearing in Cork.
    Have excellent facilities/land for this.
    How do you start up getting involved in Contract rearing?
    Does anyone have any experience/advise on contract rearing?

    Thanks

    Approximate Contract Heifer Rearing Rates
    “Who is covering what will determine the rates paid,” Curran stated. Contracts are individually drawn up so naturally rates will differ.
    The average rate for the typical 549-day rearing period – from 12 weeks of age to 20 months – is €1.20/day.
    Curran gave the following approximate figures for the different stages of the rearing process.
    Approximate contract rearing rates:
    Calf rearing: €2.00/day;
    First grazing season: €0.80/day;
    First winter: €1.80/day;
    Second grazing season: €1.05/day;
    Second winter: €2.10/day.

    Currently have stock being reared by someone, just over year done, working very well.
    Make you sure you get on with person.
    Think of all eventualities and come to aggrement on them and put in writing so both remember what agreed few years down the line.
