Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Can you put a gate in your back wall?

We are looking at a house tomorrow and it’s an end house and the side wall of back garden backs onto the footpath, is it possible to put a gate into that wall?
It’s semi d but small so we were thinking of extending (losing the side access) so Hubbie wondered if he could get his motorbike into garden through a gate.
    Thanks

New access is likely to need planning permission.

Can depend on whether the roadway is public or private.
Planningnpermission May be required to create the new entrance.

We have wooden fences instead of walls and lots of people in my estate , myself included, made a section of that fence into a rear access Gate. My house backs onto a end of road turn-around.

Id imagine knocking a section of wall may raise a lot more eyebrows and invite a questions from neighbours thats simply cutting a section of fence and putting hinges and a gate bolt in. Id be interested to hear if access like you propose is the 'done thing' in your estate.

Best to check with the local council as every estate had different regulations
