Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. Hoping someone here will know...

So the Indian Premier League just had its draft/auction...

The players who are selected, do they only player with the IPL sides for one league campaign while still be under contract with their clubs back in their home country. E.G Stokes who players for Durham but has played in Oz & India for t20 comps?

Depends on players and what they like. They can opt not to participate in the next year and opt to play for domestic clubs.

Usually contract is for 3 years but it's not as strict as like football.

When champions league is played, sometimes players have option to represent both teams, so they even choose which club they want to represent.

Thought it was a contract for just one IPL season, otherwise why did Stokes get 1.7 million last year and just under that this year?

Oh well, give me an easy life and a peaceful death.

I still confused...Is he still able to play for his county in England as his still listed as one of their players?

He won't play County cricket and don't think the ipl and Blast in England overlap. He can play for his country if his contract specifies that.

It's a little bit like English County players, still signed to an English County, going off in Winter to Australia or New Zealand to play whatever grade cricket.

Oh well, give me an easy life and a peaceful death.

I think it has something to do with whether that team wants to retain the player next season.

He signed for a different team. Pune Supergiant were a replacement for CSK and Rajasthan for 2 years and are now defunct.

There was bidding. All teams can retain few players and release every other players, so all the players belong to the pool and the fresh bidding starts.

Usually the contract is for 3 years but the teams can release players for bidding and make space in the wage bill.

For example, RCB retained Kohli, AB De and Sarfaraz Khan and released all players.

In short, contract is for 3 years and after 3 years there will be bidding for all the players (except retained ones).

Not sure if this helps to answer your query as it’s related to centrally contracted players

I thought sky had the rights for a years but nothing on their sky+ app planner showing it is on. Have they lost them or gave it up?

I've never got the outrage over Mankad, the rules are the rules and no one ever gives out to the batsman for breaking them by leaving earlier

There's only one person to blame, and that's the batsman.

Was watching the Sunrisers and had a quandary when they started batting - do I stick around to watch Jonny and Warner, or do I watch United at Everton. My decision as quickly made and as United went one down I turned to the Hyderabad openers put on a stand of 131 with Bairstow ending it with 2 sixes and finishing 80no

Think I'll head over to the Hills or North County now rather than watch any more of the Goodison massacre

Jofra Archer was Panesaresque in the field yesterday, dropped three reasonably easy chances.

Some finish in the second match today - bottom placed RCB up against leaders CSK

CSK needing 26 off the last over. Dhoni gets 24 of them off the first 5 balls, with the RCB wicketkeeper throwing down the stumps with the batsman about 2 inches short of taking it into a super over - RCB win by one run

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,762 ✭✭✭✭Inquitus

RCB 64 runs off the last 18 to take them past 200 against Kings XI Punjab, ABV with some savage hitting.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,762 ✭✭✭✭Inquitus

Kings XI off to a flyer with Gayle and Rahul, smashing it all over the park at the minute.

Posters curse, Gayle holes out to ABV on the boundary off a slight miscue.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,762 ✭✭✭✭Inquitus

RCB win it handy at the death with a multitude of wickets in the critical last couple of overs with the run rate beginning to get a bit out of control, but still manageable(ish) if they hadn't holed out to ABV in the boundary for the second or third time. RCB are out if not mathematically, but this really dents KXIP's chances of the playoffs.

    Upcoming fixtures this extended weekend.

KKR v RR @Eden Gardens this afternoon / evening. RR have no chance of qualifying realistically, KKR still in the hunt, need to win this though.

Early wicket for RR who are fielding first, Lynn chopped on.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,762 ✭✭✭✭Inquitus

Half way point in the innings KKR are 49-3, so RR doing a great job thus far keeping them under control.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,762 ✭✭✭✭Inquitus

Posters curse again, Gopal hit for a 6 and 3 4's of the start of the 11th! Strike rate getting a much needed boost with 25 from that 2nd Gopal over.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,762 ✭✭✭✭Inquitus

81-4 Narine run out by a country mile.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,762 ✭✭✭✭Inquitus

Karthik doing a good job carrying the team 96-4 after 14, not sure what a good par score is on this ground but if they don't drop any more wickets they should be able to post something competitive enough. Decent bowling effort from the Royals so far!

CSK v MI for our Friday afternoon game, important match this for the top of the table. MI off to a relatively slow start but only one wicket down, and this isn't a high scoring ground to date. Avg round the mid 130's-140's it seems. 51-1 off 7 so far for the MI.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,762 ✭✭✭✭Inquitus

99-1 off 11, pitch seems to have a bit more pace tonight, looking like MI will post a decent total for CSK to chase.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,762 ✭✭✭✭Inquitus

101-3 off 13.1, couple of mishíts holed out in the deep, puts CSK back in a modicum of control, Rohit still in though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,762 ✭✭✭✭Inquitus

155 is a decent total at this ground, CSK very slight favourites in running with the bookies but its pretty close to 50/50,

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,762 ✭✭✭✭Inquitus

All over for CSK now you'd think, need 15 an over, off the last 4, with 3 wickets in hand on a very tough batting pitch. Loss there of Bravo is probably the game.

CSK dominate DC inflicting their lowest score this season while chasing a respectable 180 setup by Dhoni cutting loose towards the end of the CSK innings while batting first.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,762 ✭✭✭✭Inquitus

MI v SRH at the Wankhede Stadium, reasonably poised midway through the 2nd innings, SRH chasing 160 odd and well in the hunt, but have dropped a few wickets to date. Important game in different ways for both, MI need the win to secure top 2 and having 2 bites at the cherry of the final while SRH need the win to keep in the hunt for the 4th spot and final playoff spot.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,762 ✭✭✭✭Inquitus

Another couple of SHR wickets down, it's certainly not impossible they are right up there with the run rate, just losing a wicket or two too many at this juncture. 106-5, 5 overs remaining, chasing 163 to win. RR required touching 12 now.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,762 ✭✭✭✭Inquitus

Down to the wire, 17 required off the last over!

16 off 5, Pandey back on strike.
15 off 4, Nabi back on strike.
    9 off 3, Nabi hits a Six.
9 off 2, wicket, Nabi holes out.
7 off 1, Six will tie it, Pandey on strike.
Pandey hits the Six to tie it up.

    Super Over!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,762 ✭✭✭✭Inquitus

SRH lose their 2 wickets to a run out and a clean bowled, set a target of 9.

Rashid to bowl to Pollard and Pandya in the second over.

First ball goes for 6, 3 left.

All over MI win easy in the Super Over at the end of a thrilling contest, MI now look likely to finish in the Top 2, SRH's qualification is defo well up in the air.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,762 ✭✭✭✭Inquitus

MI one of the few teams to win in the regular season in Chennai, CSK won the toss, opted to bat and lost both openers early. They then toiled on the slow surface to 131/4 which is imminently gettable for a decent MI side, currently moving along nicely at 33-2 off of 5.

Winner goes straight through to the Final, loser plays the winner of DC v SRH in another match to determine the 2nd finalist, so effectively 2 bites of the cherry for both teams today wrt to lifting the cup.

Edit: Bit of Trivia, SRH set the record for the lowest points scored to reach the playoffs, a mere 12 out of a possible maximum of 28

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,762 ✭✭✭✭Inquitus

2 quick wickets 101-4 overs left with 31 required off 36, and a Team hat trick ball is dropped, hard chance, still heavily in MI's favour but might slow them down a bit, we shall see, defo a bit more interesting than the straight forward march to victory I was expecting moments ago!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,762 ✭✭✭✭Inquitus

CSK get a little bit on top early in the first, DC 57/3 off 9. Still not quite half way through the first innings mind, so a long way to go. Pant probably the key wicket here now!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,762 ✭✭✭✭Inquitus

80-5 off 13, looking good for CSK, Pant still at the crease, he is def the dangerman for DC to get this to a decent total hat can perhaps be defended.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,762 ✭✭✭✭Inquitus

119-7 off 18. looks very gettable for CSK unless DC can really hit these last 2 overs hard,
