Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

First PGA round over in the Safeway at +1
Way down the field at joint 100 so will need a better round tomorrow.

Waiting to tee off 2 off the cut. Doable but will probably need 3 under.

If anything it gives him some experience of a chasing a cut. Anything over par would be disappointing though.

2 under after 8 holes when play stopped yesterday and 1 under overall. Cut looks likely to be 3 under (although it could possibly stay at 2 under). Be nice to see him make the cut.

Needs a birdie in his last three holes to make cut at 2 under.

Needs a birdie in his last three holes to make cut at 2 under.
Needs a 5ft putt on the last to make the cut..early pressure!

And he makes it...around for the weekend. Would have been a nervy putt but great that he will be getting a pay check this week...although there are 86 getting through so will there be a 3rd round cut to get back to 70?

Think Seamus could miss the cut at moment. Cuts on -3 at moment going by pgatour.com. With two players left playing. bogey or double bogey from them and cut will move to -2

    Edit: Unfortunately he's missed cut

  • Registered Users Posts: 508 ✭✭✭Johnny86

Crap...looks like JT Poston got a birdie on his last hole to move the cut to -3. Tough luck

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 551 ✭✭✭A New earth

Did he miss that 5 footer on the last that would have got him to 3 under?

  • Registered Users Posts: 508 ✭✭✭Johnny86

He made that for a par...according to shot tracker he was short of par 5 green in two...hit his third 15ft away but off the green still. Chipped and putted for par.

See he had his 11th career hole in one in the pro am last week, some going

Currently joint leader (-7), but Graham DeLaet is already -4 on just the 6th hole.

He's getting plenty of coverage this evening. -1 so far after starting at the 10th.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 9,586 ✭✭✭4068ac1elhodqr

He couldn't have asked for a better start to R3, -3 and only on the 5th.
9/1 to win outright from current 2nd place position.
    Could well become round leader.

Getting loads of coverage - hope he can make the most of this whilst the big boys are away. Great par save on the 10th.

2 back going into the last round , in with a great shout. Kirk would be the worry though

I hope Sky keep going to the end and not finish early like they did last night.

Sorry to see that. Two doubles in 3 holes. Still, good performance over the first 3 rounds and it's all a learning experience at this stage.

Pity about that final round. Will he earn much?

A "clerical error" at PGA Tour headquarters will result in 12 players getting an unexpected start this week at the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open.
The Tour's annual Las Vegas stop is typically staged in mid-October and boasts a field of 144 players, but this year it will be played in November for the first time. To compensate for the reduced daylight available during the later time slot, Tour officials planned to trim the field to 132 players.
But according to a Las Vegas Review-Journal report, the change was never input into Tour computers, and players and agents were informed of their playing status based on a 144-man field.
"They realized the mistake, but at that point there was nothing they can do," said tournament director Patrick Lindsey. "We're the fifth event next year, and we are playing in November again. But we will have 132 in the field for 2017."
The mistake means that a dozen players will receive a start this week that they otherwise would not have. It also means that first- and second-round play will almost assuredly bleed into the following day, with sunset Thursday forecast for 5:42 p.m. local time at TPC Summerlin.
Based on the Tour's priority ranking for the 2016-17 season, the beneficiaries of the oversight include Mackenzie Hughes, Ryan Blaum, J.T. Poston, Gonzalo Fernandez-Castano, Dominic Bozzelli, Rod Pampling, Seamus Power, C.T. Pan, Trey Mullinax, Kevin Tway, Will MacKenzie and Julian Etulain.

Finished at -4 and joint 36th. Great shooting. High quality field in this competition too.

Good final round 69 to finish 2 under overall , currently sharing 57 place with 3 others, good birdie on his last hole after 3 bogeys on his back 9.

6 under through 14 to move 4th 4 off the leader. Fast progress again he's gonna win one of these soon imo.

True, if he does the same again tomorrow perhaps a win or top 4 finish. -7 and on 14th, not bad.

WMcK was 400/1 and -4 early in R3 but faded slightly, still -5 finish isn't too bad.
Streelman was 100/1 earlier and produced -7.

Looks like he had a great round today......I haven't been able to watch this tournament this week, but tomorrow I'll get to it. Great to see the Irish colours near the top of the leaderboard.

Holy crap. Was looking forward to a great night and now this.

Didn't he do something similar in his final round last week? Maybe just an unfortunate coincidence but there might be some work to be done head-wise.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,076 ✭✭✭✭vienne86

Just one birdie, so +3 for the day. Really disappointing.
