    It should only cost if you renew the licences unless you have to provide credit card details upfront.
    There is no reason why you cannot have Free Avast as well AVG, Malware Bytes etc.

    downloaded and run driver update on my Surface this morning, and after reboot the keyboard stopped working,
    removed the drivers from device manager and reboot booted still the same, had to do a system restore :(
