Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Could AC/DC Finally make there Slane debut next year, there have been sightings of them in Vancouver in a studio and that includes Brian Johnson and Phil Rudd and they have recorded there recent albums there as well, could they be about to hit the road next year and finally make Henry Mountcharles dreams come true
I know we have this debate every few years but you never know

Is Johnson done and dusted with touring now due to his hearing issues?

From what i gather online he was working with specialists to try and solve the issue, he has been on a stage since he left a few years ago, he sang with Muse at Reading last year i think, be great to have Phil Rudd back as he was sorely missed on the last tour, there defintely up to something though

Slowly developing tinnitus myself, hearing problems are a little scary, wish I used ear plugs at gigs when younger

If you're a culchie or a nordie its a good day out. Get the Lee jeans and the white tshirt on, black shoes, bag of cans, mad craic on the train, a few óle óles at the gig, sorted.

There's a theory floating on a Guns N' Roses forum (of all forums) that Brian is doing the studio sessions, and Axl will handle the live duties, now how true that theory is, remains to be seen.

sounds like hell to me, jeans are truly awful clothing, white t-shirt, no thanks, alcohol, fcuk no way, loud trains with drunk people, jesus christ what a disaster of a day

I've also read (on Twitter) that the AC/DC pictures are from a previous recording session and not recent.

  • Registered Users Posts: 38 Thunder77

Internet reports now saying Angus Young and Stevie have been pictured at the same studio

    I am still here.

If Metallica end up playing Slane/Croke Park I'll pay out. I'd seriously be stunned if they think they'll shift the 80,000 tickets or so required to fill either of those two.Though the upsurge in talk is starting to make me doubt myself, but a lot of talk and wishful thinking does not make something necessarily so. They are a huge band, but I don't think they've the pulling power to play either of those two venues.

Anywhere else I think they could just about do it, though the Aviva could be stretch for them at fifty thousand.

Personally can't see them doing Croker meself, but okay...there or Slane I win,Aviva or RDS it's quits, a gig anywhere else in Dublin you win. Don't play at all I'll give €50 to Glenn Tipton foundation.

Forums including Metallica one on here, social media all pretty much spurred on by MCD posting Metallica stuff I think.

In my experience, outdoor venues in this country are terrible, but elsewhere they can be great, if the sound/transport/location is actually considered.

Would it not be Sound technicians are terrible ?
Ok, Croke park is is bad for echo.
But there should be no excuse for sound techs to not be able to get the sound right for Slane/Ardguillan Castle/Malahide Caste etc....

Bad sound = Bad tech ? in most cases...

I would guess you're right. It's always seemed to me that the volume is turned up louder than the setup can handle or something like that. I'm no expert, but I've seen stuff abroad where there seems to be a lot more speakers dotted throughout the crowd.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,862 ✭✭✭hynesie08

The sound for Queen (and Adam Lambert) in Marley was the best outdoor sound I've ever heard in Ireland except for maybe Bruce in Belfast. It seemed like they had the speakers in a semi circle which created a bubble of perfect sound. Obviously not feasible in croker/Aviva without blocking the stands, but I'd love to see it implemented more.....

Would any band even have a say in where they play as the promoter pays them a flat fee so its up to the promoter to get a venue that works out the best.

2 shows in Mexico at the end of the year one the '18 side and one '19 side where they'll be airing new material for the first time. Imagine there'll be update on the new album soon which I'd presume they'd tour into 2019 and beyond.

The one thing we know about Metallica...there'll be a tour announced soon.

If Ireland is on it...Hope it's good support!

yeah lots of rumours on the Metallica fourms about a summer 2019 Euro stadium tour annoucement monday and that Slane is the irish venue

Sure look at it this way Slane has hosted some of the best acts of all time and is widly known as a Rock venue. Metallica are well deserved to be given a show there, its been 10 years since they last played the Republic, it will sell as Metallica/support bands will go, the usual ole ole ole crowd will go, It will be hyped up to the max etc.

Personally hate open field gigs and would of rathered a stadium but i was lucky enough to see Metallica in Glasgow last year and had a perfect view in Row A of the seating section and im strongly thinking of doing Slane and see what all the fuse is about. Bus services like travelmaster are ideal for me

Bon Jovi sold less than 40,000 tickets, which would literally be half empty.

They have tweeted a few things over the past few weeks alright. But that’s not the issue, we know they’re coming here next Summer. The only question is where?

And I’d prefer to wait for something more concrete than someone knows someone who works in Ticketmaster said something or it’s being discussed on some other message board by people who have the exact same zero knowledge of anything definite.

i would be worried for them playing slane cant see them filling it without a very strong support line up. But at least if it is slane there will be no problem in getting what ever substitute they have for beer . Looking at there website surprised at the amount arenas in america there is still tickets left for

  • Registered Users Posts: 552 ✭✭✭pawdee

I met a fella who was on hols in Dingle about a month ago and he told me that Metallica will be def playing Slane next summer. He works "in the industry" let's say. He seemed a genuine guy and I have no reason to doubt him. If they were playing in my local pub tonight I'd have to think twice about going to see them. I loved them 30 years ago but they've annoyed me for a long time now. If Judas Priest were on the bill though I'd be there in a shot....even to Slane.

ps. as if it matters where I met him :)
