The wife's Nissan tiida barely failed its NCT test first time for front suspension imbalance. Changed the shocks, it passed but barely, 28% above 30 is a fail. I'd be looking at weak bushes in the wishbone at this stage. I replaced both wishbones on a vectra as it was easier than just the ball joint, also brought the balance closer to spec.

Yes, they have you snookered. I was put in a situation with an imbalance on the front wheels a couple of years ago.
3 different mechanics,
5 parts or sets of parts and 4 retest to correct a 5% imbalance. For so many reasons, its plain as day that it's a money racket scam.
