Sun index was 7.6 at 1p.m.:http://www.uvawareness.com/uv-index/uv-index.php?location=dublin

Will it be sunny on the 21st? It would be interesting to see how high it goes.

What's the general consensus for next week?

(Why didn't we book our week away this week!!! :( )

Bit too early to say. It looks like temperatures will peak tomorrow and then gradually lower over the following days. At the moment next week looks like temps in the high teens, with more cloud in the mix but sunny spells possible. Basically not as warm and settled. That could still change though.

Friends in Finland are reporting sleet and snow right down the country today. Meantime, it's 23.5C in the shade in Maynooth, according to the house thermometer there.

Their 5 day forecast map is still only showing about 23-24 at the highest. Certainly nowhere near 26 or above.

Something doesnt seem right to me but one can hope! I'd love 29 degrees.

Heading over to London tonight and back here on Friday night. I'll probably chill out in some park some time on Thurs/Friday. I'm on the Aircoach and it feels like its high 30s with aircon broke. :(

Greystones was hazy now and again today but been quite mild and clear.

Weather in Finland (Kotka on the Baltic east of Helsinki) was cold and drizzly, a cold northerly blowing, 5 degrees with a real feel of 1. How well I end up working here this week with the lovely weather back home!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,134 ✭✭✭✭maquiladora

Early days still but an improvement on the models for next weeks outlook. Some further warm weather reaching the low 20s looks possible now.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,344 ✭✭✭OneEightSeven

It's been a week since it last rained. 8 more days to go until we can declare a drought for the second Summer in a row.

    Kermits event thread closed.

Event not finished here in Bray though :D

Lovely little micro-climate enclave wrapped on all four sides by the sea and Wicklow/Dublin Mountains. This is Day 6 or 7 of near constant sunshine here. The first few days it was Blue skies after about noon when the sea fog burnt off. The last few days it was blue skies after about noon when the higher level wavy cloud burnt off or was dissolved by Dublin mountain uplift or something. Perhaps its the sea breeze pushing it a few miles inland. At any rate whatever the cause, the Sat images would show the cloud boundary dissolving at the Dublin Mountains SoCoDU area putting Bray and extreme east coast in the clear while the rest of the country has a lot of haze/cloud.

Lovely cooling sea breeze on the seafront while only a hundred metres back from the seafront Hot Hot Hot without being Oppressive Oppressive Oppressive :D

A fine Summers day in Bray is now heaven ever since Dublins finest found a new playground in Howth and Portmarnock.

A pleasant 20 and mostly sunny here in Waterford now.

Looks like it will last until a break of sorts on Wednesday.

The cloud/haze developing over the country right now grazed us in Bray for about an hour from 10-11am but the sea breeze/maritime air or whatever the reason has once again pushed it back inland a few miles, so it's looking like another Blue Sky Stunner in Bray again today.

Well another disappointing day. Lovely start for an hour or two followed by cloud cover. It looks like it could rain. Those 2.5 days of sunshine last week are a distant memory. (Leitrim area)

Poor Leitrim. Truly the freak county of Ireland. (Joking, JOKING! :-P)

I'd say a familar story throughout much of the midlands. I was in Tulsk and Athlone today. Great morning until about 11 AM, then the clouds rolled in and stayed for the day

Today marks at least seven straight days if virtually unbroken sunshine in Costa Del Bray. Could be more. Can't remember what the previous weekend was like??

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,062 ✭✭✭Tarzana

Can't believe the top temp in Dublin yesterday was only 19.5c. Felt soooo much hotter!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,810 ✭✭✭Calibos

The east coast from Dublin southward looking like it will again maintain its blue skies while the rest if the country Hazes/clouds over.

15th day in a row here with zero rain so far. Lawn turning yellow, ground where I haven't watered is like concrete. Hoping for some rain here soon!

It's on it's way! Light continuous rain here in North Sligo since very early morning.
Sad to say, it's needed for same reasons you gave. Water too expensive for flowers any more!

Wish it was, Dublin shield in place ! In fact hazy sunshine here now on and off.
Looking good for rain later in the week, fingers crossed!

dropping rain here for past hour or 2, not really wetting the ground tho. Hopefully the rain does not get any heavier.

Dry spell has ended pretty abruptly this afternoon. After 14 days with no rain...heavy rain now (rain rate of 10.2mm/hr)...6.4mm so far...now the wettest day of the month so far.

Must be an orographic element to the rain here as I see all the Dublin stations are reporting only very small rainfall amounts?

I know I harp on about Brays micro climate and the Wicklow/Dublin Mountain rain shield/Fohn generator and how the sea breeze held the last few days cloud/haze a few miles inland blah blah...but tbh I wish the rain shield would drop for a few hours today. Nothing apart from a few minutes worth of very light drizzle. The rain front seems to be pivoting around Bray. Gggrrr!! Would love a good downpour now and so would the garden.

Bone dry in Arklow still, there's even a bit of sun still trying to poke out! Not for long by the looks of the radar north of here but the mtns should save us.Peaked at 21c here for a bit mid afternoon in a period of sunshine.
If we get to midnight here without rain, can I call a drought? :D
