Suggested forecasting books for amatuers

Hi,

I follow these boards regularly but I know very little about how to forecast or how you guys get your conclusions from models etc.

Can people please suggest good instructional, weather forecasting books in an easy to understand language for amatuers. Also books covering analysing models but in a jargon free or at least well explained manner. If such things exist.

Hi Maw,

I highly recommend "WEATHER - An Eyewitness Companion" as a starter. It is written in association with the UK Met Office and explains in layman's language the fundamentals of Meteorology such as fronts, air masses, weather phenomena, clouds etc and countless other things.

I also very much recommend Tim Vasquez's "Weather Analysis & Forecasting Handbook" Goes into a little more detail on the dynamics of weather forecasting and chart reading but always in uncondescending and intelligible language.
