Appears Mullholland Bookmakers next firm to be gone.

Ladbrokes just after coming out of examiner-ship. They are now merging with Corals.

Look like the sale is going to have to pass the competition authority first. Really looks like Irish punters are going to be left with just Boyles and Paddies in the long run.

Not quite.
Ladbrokes could still have 120-140 shops in Ireland, just not as many as they used to.
Expect a massive push by Ladbrokes to try and regain all the customers they have lost over the last few months.

I worked for Mulhollands a few years while in college. The odds on football were terrible and they got their odds streaming service for most things from an English bookie that I can't remember exactly who but I think it was Coral and then proceeded to bet on the opposite outcome on Betfair.

The guy who set it up knew what he was doing but eventually his sons took over the reins and they were not suitable to be running a business like this but the main problem is they simply did not keep up with mobile betting.

I can't really see why Ladbrokes Ireland is making a loss but don't expect them to give up on the Irish market just yet.

Bet365 have such a fantastic business model that they are taking some of the low hanging fruit away from the Irish based bookmaking shops with all of their bonuses.

Mainly because of the cost of some of their very long leases they took out.
