medicine in poland

    anyone know anything about doing medicine in eg.poland prague budapest?i really want to study it but i just dont know what college to go to.im currently in sixth year but wont get the hpat :( entry requirements and whether you would be qualified to work in ireland afterwards.

    You can do it in English in Lublin too. It's 170km from Warsaw and I think this is a more popular choice.

    Just google "uniwersytet medyczny" and use Google Translate then if there's no English option on the website.

    Just a further thing though. As far as I am aware, Poland does offer free fees to all EU citizens, but courses that are done through English are fee paying for everyone, Polish citizen or any other EU citizen.

    thanks for replying.....fees for the college im looking at are 8k and accomodation is 100 euro a year.thats in warsaw btw.just wondering would i get work here with a polish medical degree

    Is that 8000 zloty or euro? If it's zloty it should work out at around €2000.

    Sorry for the late reply. I would think have a check with the Medical Council to see if they will accept your degree to register as a doctor here.

    Would you consider repeating the HPAT? I'm studying medicine and five or six people in my class got in on hpat repeats. On of my friends went up over sixty points. It's hard to know how well you've done until you get the results anyway.

    I have a friend who is studying here. Medicine is very hard in Poland you can easily repeat the year even though you have committed a lor of your free time. The accommodation will cost you around 200e, 150 e per month, depends on the city you live in.

    Thanks for all the information guys....i really want medicine and am eager to start college and get qualified so repeating the hpat really isnt an option.

    Medicine in Poland is 6 years and then you need to get qualifies for several years as well.

    A word of warning, the courses in eastern europe do qualify you but don't give you an intern year. If you ever wanted a job here, it would be very difficult to get one without that intern year and you couldn't do one here as the intern years are saved for those who need them to qualify.

    I realise that you're eager to start but it's minimum 8 year training that you're looking at before you even begin to specialise so I would question how much you really want this if you're not willing to give it an extra year. Plus if you do a related degree for a year and then sit the hpat you might get to do the 5 year course so you wouldn't even be losing time.
