A few general predictions for 2018, feel free to chip in with some sublime, absurd, or just random predictions.

The first is a somewhat predictable general election in Ireland around March.
A well known Irish celebrity will be outed as a major paedophile similar to Jimmy Saville.
RTE will collapse financially and the state broadcaster will be sold off to the private market.
The first domestic act of radical Islamic terrorism by a lone wolf in Ireland will take place next year, possibly using a vehicle as a weapon. Although I hope I'm very wrong on that.
In finance, the bitcoin bubble will burst hard and wipe out the earnings of many investors.
In America, Hilary Clinton and her inner circle will be arrested on murder and corruption charges following an in-depth FBI investigation into the unsolved death of DNC staffer Seth Rich.
The first Antifa act of domestic terrorism will shock the world when they target conservative Republicans in a gun and bomb attack, leading to a major crackdown on leftist inspired hate groups.
Also, there will be major controversy in the global media corporations following the revelations that the powerful networks have been taking bribes to censor unpopular arguments.
Google, Reddit, and Facebook will face major scandals as it is revealed that they have been working directly to influence users behaviour and thought patterns. They will be broken up under anti-trust laws.
Elon Musk will announce the creation of a massive new eco friendly 'smart city' built mostly by robots and AI which will generate surplus electricity through innovative harnessing or renewable energy and battery storage. This will become the template for successful replications around the world. The price of a comfortable apartment in once of these cities will be no more than €50,000.
There will be a announcement that there has been an unprecedented breakthrough in anti-gravity magnetic materials, resulting in exciting future potential for air and space travel.
A major global child trafficking ring for VIP's and celebrities will be exposed leading to widespread shock and outrage. Some of the revelations will confirm the existence of occult child sacrifice rituals by supposedly respectable members of society.
An airliner will be destroyed in flight as a result of criminally irresponsible UAV drone activities near a major airport, resulting in heavy restrictions on sales and usage by civilians.
North Korea will unexpectedly collapse following a widespread famine that devastates the country.
There will be huge progress made in Saudi Arabia regarding liberalisation of ideology and the end of Theocracy influence.
India and Pakistan will come to the brink of nuclear war following a devastating state sponsored terrorist attack that kills thousands.
Reunification of Ireland will be offered by the UK as a result of increasing desperate Brexit negotiations.
There will be a rejection of manufactured pop music by the public and a return to authentic musical influences in the mainstream, leading to a musical cultural revolution not seen since Nirvana's 1991 masterpiece, 'Nevermind'.
Similarly, Instagram and social media will decline significantly as human interaction becomes popular once again.
The cloak will make a triumphant return to mens high street fashion.
Going to Mass will become the latest hipster statement following a popular grassroots movement and reform within the Church which sees an end to celibacy, and priests allowed to marry, including same sex.
The major banks will announce a multilateral jubilee debt forgiveness programme following an unprecedented financial crisis that threatens the global financial system, to be replaced with a fraud proof cryptocurrency system.
Another outbreak of Ebola in Africa will lead to the deaths of over 1 million people and a quarantine being placed on the country of origin.
2018 will see the first act of 'terror hacking' that results in multiple deaths and a huge shake up of IT infrastructure.
Donald Trump will remain as President of the USA, and will gradually earn the respect of many observers following his tactful handling of a major world political crisis.
World leaders and the UN will announce a South African style 'Truth and Reconciliation Commission' following a series of devastating scandals involving global media, financial groups, medical organisations, charities, and intelligence agencies.

The societal impact of social media will become more visible (especially on younger people), and a growing trend will continue where people abandon this aspect of the internet entirely, leading it to become more and more of an echo chamber that is more and more ignored.

Identity politics will continue to annoy the f**k out of normal people, inadvertently pushing them more to the right. Elections will bear this out.

Housing crisis will continue until some external factor devastates the ridiculous property situation. God forbid we could fix it on our own. Could be next year or soon after. In the post.

Some multinational scandal that will put a spotlight on us once again.

Many comedians will consequently face hard times, having to resort to slap-stick and cross-dressing and calling it "retro comedy".
Hipsters will go mad for it.
Leo Varadkar will keep trying to create memes on social media by posting pictures of him in funny socks, and with amusing mugs, but unfortunately never make a breakthrough.

Toblerone and other chocolate bars will disappear as manufacturers reduce bar sizes.
Manchester City will win the Premier league.
Posers who drink water from plastic bottles will get their come-uppance.
People who sit at tables outside restaurants will continue to pose.
Hats with built in iphone, music system, TV, internet.
Cider parties on the Luas very popular.

These are mainly extractions of a lad that does these forecasts each year (these were published 22nd Sept 17), added my own comments/notes within curly brackets ‘{}’.

• Eruption of Vesuvius and the evacuation of Naples. There is also a serious earthquake in New Zealand during 2018.

• A trade embargo with North Korea will fail. The US will strike at railway line and bridge to disrupt imports. Kim’s own people will depose of him. His body is not found and some claim that he survives and flees to hide in China or Ruska. {timeline is within next 2 months for this one}

• ‘world flu epidemic’ {probably that one in Madagascar, or maybe the Aussie bug}

• America make a big military commitment to Japan as the country’s pacifist mandate is withdrawn. Japan pays to hire American missile defense services. {this has just started, they’ve bought in some big sticks last week, first time in 70yrs, even more hot ones to arrive probably due to nk}

• Massive Bitcoin fraud uncovered and thwarted that funds terrorism and war. A well-known American company is involved in the scandal. {guess this may be connected to big Kim, who may be hiding his wealth in these, these overpriced invisible coins will crash}

• There will be a hard Brexit but, pressed by Germany, Europe will relent at the last moment and allow a trade deal. Junker loses face and ‘retires’. • An Italian Banking Crisis causes chaos in Italy and many lose their homes. The Euro will plummet and towards the end of 2018 and into 2019 there will be riots as the steep economic decline takes hold.
