Fuel tank issue

My wife bought herself a lovely new Toyota CHR at the start of the year, and whole she loves it there is a growing niggle about the fuel tank capacity. It's the 1.2T Luna version and according to all the official blurb it has a 50l tank, but the low fuel warning is coming on when it only takes 37l to fill. We ran it til it was right down to bottom and it still only took 42l to fill.

So bit of research and the hybrid has a 43l tank, and the Parkers site below lists the 1.2l as 43l as well. So I'm figuring either wrong tank in car, or wrong details on Irish blurb.

Went back to dealer to ask about this and they were adament it was a 50l tank and recommended allowing the car to run out of fuel as this will probably recalibrate the fuel gauge. Seems a drastic action to me.

Has anyone ever heard of this issue or solution before? Or any other CHR drivers able to confirm tank size.
