I've noticed that many of the pagan's and wiccans I've spoken with talk about 'working' with each other or working alone. Just wondering if this is a specific spiritual practice in traditions. If so, can anyone recommend a text?

    Many thanks

    That's a tough one -

There are two main traditions in Wicca, from Gerald Gardner and Alex Saunders but there are now loads of spin-offs. There's no standard book for any of them. Perhaps 'The Witches Bible' is a decent start point if Wicca is your bag.

As for paganism in general - there are loads more forms again - Druidism, Asatru, Helenic, Egyptian, Hermetic, Shamanic, etc. Again there's no standard text!

Sorry for a vague answer but that's how it is - you'd probably be best off to pick one - the one that most attracts you and then start reading up and looking for a group to join.
