Great news for the CIE property division no doubt but hardly ideal to be closing or rationalising Inchicore in favour of some remote depot away from the bulk of rail activities in the capital.

There is a lot of underused and unused space in Inchicore. Empty sheds and surface parking among them. A rationalisation could occurr without reducing functions

Some of that unused space in Inchicore is being earmarked for the government agency I work for.

But whatever else happens at Inchicore we can't have a National Transport Museum on any part of the site or the Tommy Tighe/Fry Collection being put where it belongs.

wouldn't put it past them at this stage tbh. they built one in portlaoise after all.

Plenty of space in Inchicore to keep both a working compound and for new housing. The bigger issue here is if the area can cope with such a large increase in population.

From what I've recently heard from a somebody who'd seen it the Fry Collection is literally only fit for the bin.
