Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    She is really beautiful.

I like Ripped Knees! I think it's kind of quaint, just her life and what she wears. It's not too FASHION. Wearable up, to date clothes, and nearly all from Dublin.

I love street fashion blogs, with just snaps of people from all over on a regualar day, looking fantastic! The Dublin one is rubbish though. The Sartorialist is probably the most famous. http://thesartorialist.blogspot.com/

Thats exactly what I was thinking! She could do a lot of good for the reputation of the Irish modelling industry. She'd blow Rosanna Davidson, Claire Tully, Andrea Roche or any of those other 'models' out of the water! She's fabulous and seems seriously confident.

I'm sure people are familiar with What Katie Wore and her boyfriend Joe as well, it started some some back but now is mega famous. I reckon I only like one of her outfits in every 15 though, some *I think* are a bit mental but there are some links on her page to 'what other people wore' which can be handy for finding new blogs.

Wow that girl is nuts! Bit OTT for my liking tbh. Like some of the stuff is nice (her little green lace ups *sigh*) but not all in the same outfit! She reminds me of people I know in Galway, lot of that style up their the last 5-10 years or so. Very entertaining blog all the same though, she's got balls!

Yeah I'm deffo not a fan of her sock and heeled sandals look which she seems to waer everyday .makes me shudder..and I do think she just piles on whatever is lying about..but there are some nice links to other fan's pages, enough to keep me entertained anyways!

Ya it's good fun to look at though, I'm suprised its gotten her so much attention from the media tbh, but then thats the art world for ya isn't it!
Yup lots of very shudder worthy stuff in there, the least complicated outfits are by far the nicest but thats still only because they're an improvement on all the other eye sores. Mental! Man I'm feeling my own style to be very conservative all of a sudden :pac:

I need to undo some of the bids I put on ebay! ESB bill arrived today!

I was thinking another thing that would be good on here would be a swap shop sticky, I have an unholy amount of really nice clothes I was gonna give to a charity shop (*ahem* five bin bags to be exact) it'd be much more fun to swap.

Haha I know one of the girls from the sooo ali site! The pics she has on the top of the page

Small world eh?? LOVE that she isn't a skinny, for want of a better word, wretch! It's really disheartening seeing so many blogs where the girl is rail thin and I know I could never wear the same things because they just wouldn't suit my shape.
Will defo be keeping an eye on this blog!

Also the ripped knees girl, I dunno how much I like it, I've seen her blog before and I don't think her clothes are unique really. Hmmm might grow on me!

I agree its really refreshing, although personally I'm not into her style so wouldn't be getting much inspiration from it. Thats part of why I like selective potential so much, she's not too small for me to be able to pull off her outfits as well as she does if I wanted to. That amazing red haired girl from the midlands is so tiny and so tall, the things you could pull off with her figure. I'd really love to see her get snatched up by an agency, maybe someone should email assests a link to her blog :p She's still only 18 or so isn't she? She'd be so perfect on a runway.

EDIT: totally agree about ripped knees, I'm generally not interested in philosophy student waffle and her outfits are a bit dull. I think she could make more of an effort with her photography too really it's pretty sub-standard for a fashion blog.

There is one on saturdays in a pub in Cork but I've never been. We also have a kinda vintagey shop that you can bring your clothes into on saturdays and you get a coupon to use in there to buy other stuff with which is cool and I've been meaning to get around to for ages now, but I live outside the city and the last thing I want to do on a saturday morning is go in to town. You could try organising one yourself among your friends, some of my mates did that and it was a great sucess.

defo that red headed girl is unreal! Woul love a figure like that! :( She's 18 ??? Dear god she looks so much older, very sophisticated for 18!

Yeah the ripped knees girl, her style is kinda generic, just walk through town and that style is everywhere, the whole thick black glasses, chunky cardis, brogues. Not very original.

    I like this one www.lookbook.nu
People from around the world post their pics, so much variety! Also there is a girl called Louise from Paris and she is just amazing. Love her style!

Going to have to go against the trend here though and say that I dislike Tahiti's blog and like the Ripped Knees one. I find the outfits on the first one aren't to my taste at all, and I can't stand how she writes, I think she sounds a bit pretentious. She does some amazing makeup however. I like the girl on Ripped Knees style, it could be a bit more interesting but I like her more laid back way of dressing.

Those shoes are the exact same shape as a brogue they had in Penneys about 20months that came in brown and black. You could trying buying a neutral coloured brogue (fawn or cream) and dying them?

These green hush puppies are pretty similar. Not as bright a green though unfortunately.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,057 ✭✭✭Sapsorrow

Thanks SD4L and MM! I love her shoes, if I can't find a pair along those lines I'll try your idea out about dying them lady. Those hushpuppies are lovely but it's the colour I love about hers you could have a lot of fun with those shoes!

Funny I find Laithas writing very profound and intelligent for a girl her age, shes a bit melancholie which I find endearing. I wish I was able to write like that at that age.

Ripped knees at the risk of making myself sound a bit evil really really reminds me of ugly betty (please don't hit me!), don't really like her style of writing its a bit giddy first year arts studenty for me.

Love that girl pandora she's fantastic thanks for the link! She's so incredibly lovely looking, such a fabulous complexion and beautiful shots. I love the pre-raphelite inspired one she has up of her in the woods with the flower garland so pretty!

Had a look at lookbook before, I find it a bit wierd looking at pictures of 15 year old girls for fashion inspiration tbh, its a bit like what bebo is to facebook, not that I use either but you know what I mean! :p Doesn't appeal to me for some reason not quite sure why, thik it's cos they're all so thin, young and beautiful.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,057 ✭✭✭Sapsorrow

Ok just had a look at lookbook there and seriously I feel like a paedo looking at it! Like seriously: http://lookbook.nu/look/712513-PRETTY-SICKLY

    http://lookbook.nu/look/712765-chicken

They're nearly all doing the I'm a cutsy little 16 year old thing its very generic and the poses are so annoying I just want to see the clothes god dammit! Funny aswell even though they might only be 18 they seem to be professional artists, fashion stylists, models, fashion journalists and musicians all in the one go! Amazing! Is it just me or are the outfits really boring too? They're not much to take away from it.

You are so right there Sapsorrow I have just turned 19 and I think
some of the clothes are way to childish I would never wear them, In
fact I don't even think it looks all that fashionable or on trend.

There are a few people on Lookbook I like but the majority are tall lean awkward standing 16 year olds wearing plastic glasses and layers and big hair. And pastels, frickin hate pastels. How can 16 year olds even afford stuff??? I'm 27 and still can't!!!

Saying that, here are two blogs I have on my reader which I seem to like form chicotopia.

    http://www.chictopia.com/FashionSheSays

    http://www.chictopia.com/calivintage

I actually use Flickr a lot more so than blogs these days for nice photos and inspiration.
    This girl's great:

Also like this girls Flickr and blog but wish she's snap off that innocent dopey face and look normal (okay I am pms-y!!)

btw, I suggest looking at todays WKW, shocking. Ick.

Oops that was supposed to be a new thread...

I love chictopia, its got a more mature feel to it. I really like the girl fashion she says, that style is really up my street. I don't know why but I find the idea of a high fashion 15 year old slightly disturbing, I was so innocent when i was that age its wierd seeing them trying to pose like vogue models. Where the hell do they get their money from? I had to scrimp and save just to afford a packet of rollies! Can't wait to get the camera fixed and get some pics going on the new thread! PUt together a gorgeous outfit today with my new shoes so happy with them! :) Hopefully will see some of you lovely ladies there!

I don't particularly like lookbook, its less about the clothes and more about artsy settings and angles and how cute/attractive/whimsical the person is!

I love what katie wore, her clothes aren't what i'd wear but i adore her eccentric london look! and admire her balls!

That Tahti S girl is gorgeous!! Woah cannot believe she lives in the midlands?! Her clothes are a bit too lookbooky for me though, its a bit high maintenance for every day. And she's 19?? She keeps talking about her bf, I assumed she was in her mid twenties... how do people that age afford the lifestyle I won't even have when I'm 30?

I'm really glad to come across new irish blogs. I started one recently and love adding to my google reader. A local flavour is so welcomed.

mostly UK/US blogs, besides the usual Cherry Blossom Girl, Facehunter, etc.

    two irish:

    ripped knees

I like to check Dublin Streets but its hardly ever updated and they annoyingly tend to stick around South William Street and photograph the same sort of style.

There was a massive backlash against her on the internet this year due to some questionable business methods - she does have some fabulous photoshoots but her make up line would not appeal to me in the slighest.

Oh I haven't read her blog in about three years - what happened? I'm intrigued now!

Yeah her make-up really is an acquired taste, maybe for clubbing New York style, not so much for Leitrim lassies!
