    Yes, the return of paupers clearly labelled it as Balrothery union workhouse.

    It opened with a designed capacity of 400 inmates,and the census return shows about 100 still.

    Peter Higginbotham's website ( workhouses.org.uk ) tells us that it may have housed Belgian refugees during the Great War. Celbridge is better known for this use, but there were a number of workhouses used for this.

    Driving past it some months ago, there was no sign of any remains.
