Wedding guest dresses - acceptable colours?

Hi all,

Just wondering nowadays if red and black are acceptable colours for wedding guest dresses?

Obviously white or cream are big no-no's but, I wear a lot of black and red, and honestly they make for a more versatile outfit you can wear elsewhere afterwards.

Also what about dresses that are a mix of white and black for example? Is that dangerous territory?

I have a wedding Feb 15th and as it's a cusp season, I wasn't sure about colours, but I thought, Valentines Day, romantic red/berry colours might work?

So where do people stand on red/black wedding guest dresses, yay or nay?

I think black and red are fine. If it's just black I would consider adding an accent colour somewhere in accesories, and I'd say that for any occasion, not just a wedding.

If it's a mix of black, white, red (I'm imagining a pattern?), I would think that's fine as well. Some people would say maybe to be sure the main or base colour isn't white, to be extra sure.

I think thats lovely & should not cause an issue.

TBH given the date of the wedding I would be likely to steer away from red in case its the theme colour of the wedding party (red and/or black would be my go to colours also!)

I don't see any issue wiht that dress.

Surely the test is;

- could this dress possibly be used as a bridal dress by most reasonable people
- will this dress photograph as white

Other than that, I say have at it.
